>decided i had enough of 18.04 ubuntu and decided to try debian >ended up installing i386 instead of amd64 like an idiot >also accidentally chose GNOME again instead of XFCE like I wanted >wireless internet doesn't work anymore >took 30mins just to add myself to sudo >half the info I find online is outdated, keep finding commands that outright arent recognized by my command line and I don't know the modern day equivalents >the other half is for problems for ubuntu not debian >want to just want install unetbootin again and fully reset >can't install unetbootin, would have to compile it from source and that apparently requires 3 other things I need to compile from source >I don't own any usb sticks or cd drives SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE WHY IS IT ALL SO FUCKED UP
Landon Rivera
i need a good audio player to play full albums, vlc is shit

You better source e that pic OP

My HDD or my HDD connector in my old laptop have gone kaput. It isn't worth my money to order new ones to troubleshoot.
Which Linux Distro that can boot from SD is the best for playing games, for example, Into the Breach?
Jonathan Torres
Most of them, but why not just replace it with a cheap SSD? ADATA SU650 and WD Green have been going for $15-20 recently.
Andrew Gutierrez
Don't want to troubleshoot if it is the connector or the HDD, and it is MicroSata.
Bought a new gpu and whenever I set my resulting to 4k in games I get this weird black border around the entire thing. Anyone heard of this before?
Ayden White
What display are you using?
Connor Carter
What's the difference between a lan to usb 2.0 and a lan to usb 3.0 adapter?
Nolan Bailey
Supposedly speed. Unless of course it's a type C connector instead of a type A.
Gavin Green
not him but how good is snapraid? what's the performance?
Thomas Collins
That's really not the question to be asking. Raid gets very little use for speed these days, with SSDs being a thing. If somebody mentions raid, it's because they're after reliability, which snapraid is MUCH better at.
Landon Reyes
Yup, that's why I use RAID6.
Andrew Stewart

When should I start to worry if I feel electric current on my USB microphone?
Why do people buy K series Intel CPUs but don't overclock them at all? I've seen this trend a lot on the PC building thread for some reason.

I plugged my 2nd monitor with a hdmi cable but it only shows deskop background from my 1st monitor. I can't see any other stuff like internet browsing ect
okay but how's the behavior? how bothersome it is to use it and such. does it like different sizes of disks?
Kevin Perez
Read the FAQ. And it doesn't give a shit about disk size.
Evan Ward
Move stuff there?
Leo Hernandez
I made a thread and then immediatly remembered this bread. I'm having problems getting themes to work. Latest firefox version, 4chanX and stylish. No themes work for any board except Jow Forums where some themes work.
apart from size and price, are these two cards exactly the same in terms of performance? its just a low profile one of that card, but exactly the same performance right?
Joseph Turner
What refresh rate it good for monitors if I want it for gaming?
Sebastian Jenkins
how is the total computer power measured? in which unit?
but why don't PC performance benchmark tools just show flop units?
Dominic Powell
because people are too retarded to understand FLOPS and all consumers care is about how much FPS one can get in video gaymes.
John Hughes
Because each one of the tools tasks your computer with a different thing. A computer that performs really high in 3Dmark might performer poorly in cinebench, or vice versa
Austin Butler
should I stick with ubuntu 18.04 or upgrade to 18.10?

do modern PCs no longer have fan sounds? my thinkcentre m58e puts out 35 decibel, i hate it.
that's a fingertip with a fixed inductor on top of it. how hot it depends on how well you tolerate heat. that inductor, on the other hand, can operate at 125C! that's pretty fucking hot! and can operate at negative 40C! WHOA!
fuck you, I was typing my answer already
Andrew Reyes
please
Xavier Powell
mine desktop gets at 25dB and I have pretty open case might be louder if I play gaymes or anything, haven't noticed it being too loud my stupid mechanical keyboard is much louder
Aaron Murphy
thanks anyway whats an inductor actually do?
Anthony Brooks
Buy noctua fans, buy a new heatsink. Done, no more sound.
And buy a Thinkcentre M93p, yours is too old user.

>I don't own any USB sticks or CDs how the fuck you installed ubuntu or debian in the first place?
Adrian Jackson
Is there a way to apply uBlock filters globally? For example having ##.cookie-dialog and ###cookies to apply to all sites?
this laptop came with windows 10 and I just used unetbootin, and then I used unetbootin again when going from ubuntu --> debian. But now unetbootin doesn't seem to have a debian version.
Wyatt Thompson
my pc has audible fan noise but it's not loud. it's like hearing the a/c hum
Luke Perry
>I used unetbootin how exactly you used it? isn't it a tool to make bootable FLASH DRIVE/DVD/CD?
Gavin Adams
yea, but you can also select hard disks and mount straight onto them, which is what I did twice. If I get unetbootin running on debian I could probably do it again, this time even installing Xubuntu or Lubuntu instead if I want to. Which I might, because I feel really dumb now.
Camden Ross
I'm looking for a good new router. I would like it to have detachable antennas so I can put some high gain antennas on it.
Router I currently have chokes constantly while I'm downloading stuff and I can't get any signal in my living room.
Jose Fisher
so you booted from hard disk to install on hard disk? kek why the fuck you don't have a USB stick? it's not like they're expensive now
have you tried: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gezakovacs/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install unetbootin
>high gain That's not what makes a good router. Increasing the gain just means you're pointing the signal in a narrower direction. Which is great if you want to communicate to a single device in another building. Not so much if you want good signal around your house.
Base Frequency 2.93 GHz Maximum Frequency 2.92 GHz
what did they mean by this
Eli Baker
Fucked up BCLK, not a problem.
Christopher Morris
Buy a E8400 or a Q6600?
Wyatt Lewis
I have, third line just leads to "E: Unable to locate package Unetbootin"
I don't own because well I don't know, I just never use them. I guess I'll have to get one next time I go to the store but that is in a week's time and I'd like this fixed a lot sooner than that.
Leo Rodriguez
did apt-get update went without any errors? did you typed unetbootin without any typos? (it's case-sensitive)

I've got a cool domain name and I'd like to set it up so that people can register emails to it. How do I do this? I've heard that it can be as simple as just installing postfix, but I've also heard that I need to set up and maintain spam filters, and work hard to stay of spam filters myself. I'd also like it to be mostly like an alias -- if mail to your alias was sent to your main address, and you could still send mail from the alias.

Using my phone as a line in to my sound card; it works fine until I plug the phone into its charger, when I do that, my music keeps playing but i get a really loud buzz coming from my speakers. The buzz continues even if i pause my music. Any idea what causes this? My setup is: LG Z506 5.1 speakers, Soundblast Audigy Fx sound card, Nexus 6P. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

So I have a power bank and I just ordered a small solar panel (it's like 5v and 1w), what else should I buy? I have read in the internet that you need a voltage regulator like pic related, but the only ones that I can find, changes the voltage from 5 to 220, any tips?
wait for zen 2 APUs they will be able to play AAA titles on 1080p at decent quality most likely
James Jenkins
what does this do: apt-get search unetbootin
Michael Baker
Yea the typo was in my post, I typed unetbootin, not Unetbootin. For the second part I got E: The repository 'ppa.launchpad.net/gezakovacs/ppa/ubuntu disco release' does not have a Release file.
Evan Wilson
E: Invalid operation search
Carter Wood
Noctua fans make less sound but they are expensive. Done, that is it.

How do I set multiple different desktop backgrounds on ubuntu? Whenever I change it it changes it for all my monitors.
Matthew Hall
uh... just download binary (32 bit, obviously, because you've installed 32bit OS) open terminal cd Downloads chmod +x ./unetbootin-linux sudo ./unetbootin-linux
anyone installed linux into a usb drive I mean install, not dd a live iso how to make certain parts run RAM only?

Just tried it, no errors but when I run sudo ./unetbootin-linux-661.bin absolutely nothing happens. Also i tried apt-search and got command not found.
OK BUT SO I DOWNLOADED THE 64 BIT AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING. I got some error I didn't read, something something arch linux. but unetbootin opened. Time to try this shit again. Goodbye GNOME 3.
James Fisher
how can this discord be so cancer? literal reddit bot github com/tiananmensquare/pigbot/blob/master/redditwatcher.go

install 64bit OS this time and if debian, use unstable release for newer software anons say it's not that unstable, so should work, I guess or go back to comfy ubuntu LTS and worry not for next few years
tl'dr do not distrohop

>Had old rig with W7 >Replaced Mobo, RAM, CPU, GPU >Kept old HDD and wiped it to install W10 for new rig >Everything went well but I don't have an Nvidia control panel
Where is it? Googling it just tells me to go open it from control panel instead of right clicking the desktop. It's not in my control panel. I have the latest drivers and I've already tried reinstalling them. Some older or shit new ones require me to edit a few of these settings. Help
You installed geforce experience but not NVidia drivers.
Bentley Myers
enter safe mode, run a program called DDU to remove all drivers and registries related to drivers. reboot into normal mode and reinstall drivers again, make sure to do custom install and specify the drivers to be installed.

Any c programmers out there?
if i have this integer declaration and assignment
x = 1, 2, 3;
printf("%d", x);
it gives me 1, what is happening here, what's the purpose of the comma separated other integers?
When you write int x[3] = {1, 2, 3} variable x isn't the whole array at once but a starting address. When you pass it to printf and say that it should be a decimal it takes an address and treats it as a regular integer. There is 1 under that address. It takes it and prints it.
To print an array in c you have to write a loop and cycle through each digit
Anthony Edwards
That's the comma operator. The comma operator has the lowest precedence of all operators, and it sequences expressions (similar to but distinct from the semicolon which separates statements)
