>Where things get interesting is in phase two, which is set for completion during the spring of 2020. Atos' will be building CSC a liquid-cooled HDR-connected BullSequana XH2000 supercomputer that will be configured with 200,000 AMD EPYC "Rome" CPU cores which for the mathematicians out there works out to 3,125 64 core AMD EPYC processors. Of course, all that x86 muscle will require a great deal of system memory, as such, each node will be equipped with 256 GB for good measure. Storage will consist of an 8 PB Lustre parallel file system that is to be provided by DDN. Overall phase two will increase computing capacity by 6.4 petaflops (peak). With deals like this already being signed it would appear AMD's next-generation EPYC processors are shaping up nicely considering Intel had this market cornered for nearly a decade.
lemme know when their crap cards are of any value LOL >rx 570/580/590 BTFOd by 1070 >vegatrash >BTFOd by 1070ti above that there's 0 competition for Nvidia hahahaha HAHAHAHAHAH HAAA AHAHAHA
Not sure but the list is growing at a large rate given the scales these things operate on. I do honestly wonder how IBM keeps its niche viable these days.
Jace Carter
When will AMD just fuck off for good?

You had your once in 30 year chance in 2014/2015, now it's over.

>AMD competes with intel in synthetic benchmarks >Majority of professional software is compiled using the Intel compiler AMD is literally just the Pepsi of CPUs. Cheaper copy of the superior original.
>Yes goy! Just let Intel charge you 700$ for an 8 core CPU! They're better so its ok!
Samuel Gray
I want professional hardware that will preform. Not hipster gaming MOAR COARS bullshit like AMD. Intel focused on stability, efficiency, and linear improvements over time. AMD is fucking everything up.
Adrian Hughes
AMD will finnish Intel next year
Julian Hall
Very good Rakish, we shell send you a free toilet use coupon for a job well done.
Jackson Parker
Professional hardware? The industry standard are iMacs, why don't you get one of those? They don't even get viruses, so maximum stability!
Landon Watson
Enjoy your fake "cores" and broken hyperthreading just so you can get a few more points on benchmarks only.
Adam Cooper
>my hardware knowledge is based on Jow Forums maymay's
In the server CPU market it isn't even a competition between Intel and amd. AMD Rome has better performance for less money. There is no reason to buy a xenon CPU other than brand loyalty.
Hudson Mitchell
LOOOOOOOOOOOL Intel has contracts with all the relevant companies. Don't kid yourself, kid/
Aaron Rodriguez
>stability >efficiency >improvements
This is something Intel doesn't do in a long long long time.
Jordan Perez
>broken hyperthreading >AMD smt is better than intel.
>24 petaflops that is top 10 material in the current list (up from place 30).

Having contracts !== Being a better product. Once companies figure out that they can get better performance for less money Intel won't have contracts for 10 years.
Landon Sanchez
Intel shills working overtime I see
Jack Taylor
They need to if they want to upgrade from core2duo
Chase Reed
Friendly reminder that intel provided great cpu performance for 10 years while AMD almost went bankrupt. This is a fact.
Luis Parker
LOL O LOL
YOU ACTUALLY FUCKING THINK INTEL IS GOING TO LET THEM GO? LOOOOOOOLL **INTEL OWNS THE INDUSTRY**
Camden Morris
>linear improvements over time.
Kekd. Only an Intel fag would ever utter these words.
Lucas Rogers
SMT is superior to hyperthreading you fucktard.
Jack Nelson
HyperThreading is just Intel's brand name for their SMT implementation.
Daniel Bennett
>MOAR COARS bullshit like AMD. >Intel responds with MOAR CORES I wonder why that might be....
>AMD is literally just the Pepsi of CPUs. Cheaper copy of the superior original. Interesting comparison. You do know that in blind tests, a majority of people prefer pepsi to coke, but the brand loyalty makes them drink the one their tastebuds enjoy less? The perfect metaphor for AMD (Pepsi) vs Intel (Coke)
Ayden Phillips
No one forgot that. But good use of the past tense there. The next ~5 years the tables will be turned.
Jack Martinez
Have we reached the peak of moar cores?
Gabriel Russell
Kike damage control.
Jaxon James
>a majority of people prefer pepsi to coke >implying most people aren't retarded >implying your source isnt your own ass >implying you can't immediately tell the difference once you taste it pepsi is sweeter, if you can't tell you quite literally have autism my friend can't tell the difference and I swear he has legitimate autism
Evan Garcia
still needs moar cores
Cooper Richardson
Pepsi has more lemon oil in the flavoring. Coke has more clove in its flavor.
Both have each flavoring present in differing amounts.
Gavin Rogers
I bet it still loses out to intel in 1080p benchmarks.
>hipster gaming >MOAR COARS are you fucking retarded? you have to be an astoundingly stupid ape retard to actually believe this, let alone any of the other unfathomable bullshit in your post go back to fucking reddit, there are plenty of other shill parasites just like you there
Because Pepsi has no aftertaste. After that initial sweetness, everything become bland. While Coca is still retaining its taste. A perfect analogy, right?
Jack Ross

AMD drivers are currently more stable than Nvidia drivers and don't need some shitty signup in the GUI. Also, much better loonix support.
>Then they drank from a Pepsi bottle (which contained Coke) and from a Coke bottle (which contained Pepsi)
How the fuck does this fool people? Did the old "taste challenge" thing in the early 2000s in school and it was so fucking easy I could do it by smell, let alone taste. Pepsi and Coke taste nothing alike.
Jeremiah Bennett
Pepsi's really smooth; Coke has this wonderful harsh feeling as you drink it. The difference is night and day.

If IBM entered the consumer hardware business again, and released a couple similar to that of the CELL (absurd levels of power and efficiency locked behind big brain programming, but with a more preferable small brain operation mode as well so it wont have the ps3s issue early on) but a comparable nm size to that of a ryzen CPU, how likely would it be that they'd overtake both Intel and AMD as the majority?
Additionally, if they stepped into the GPU market, what kind of performance would YOU like to see from them? I'd personally like to see what they could do in general seeing as their main focus has never been graphical processing.
I want IBM back
Ethan Lewis
Nah, I dont want any of their failures as a company to re-enter the market.
