Even with their current resources they could be moderating it better. I remember seeing a post talking about how when they delete CP, they leave the post intact, which means anyone looking for it doesn't find the image but finds dozens of blogs that liked the image, each of which has plenty more.

Tumblr was fantastic for following those artists and the only other somewhat active place I can think of is /aco/.

The refugees are heading primarily to Twitter, Newgrounds, and Pixiv, as well as a few smaller lesser-known sites.
None of them are really optimal because I find browsing Twitter media a pain, Newgrounds doesn't show you the full images before you click on them to open the page, and Pixiv requires censorship.

I imagine that's because the people who run the companies AREN'T the people who made those companies big to begin with. With public companies, the people who grew the company are either enslaved to shareholders who had nothing to do with it, or sell it entirely to a different company who had nothing to do with it. In both cases you end up with a business managed by people who are only in that position because they spent decades growing conventional businesses, which means they are now decades out of touch with businesses based around phenomena like the Internet and video games. Verizon's management probably can't comprehend the fact that millions of Tumblr's users have formed a community based on porn and are only thinking in terms of "make it kid-friendly, kids will start using the app, more ad revenue for us."

The only companies that are really immune to this are private companies, and companies who have been doing the same thing for long enough that everyone in upper management knows what they're doing.

Porn is bad because it means bad ads. Tumlbr has no other revenue stream and is way past the point of being new startup burning cash to get users. Tumblr full of porn is simply not viable.

From what I've read is that the main problem is that the way Tumblr is configured with tags, reblogs and follows makes it extremely easy for pedophiles to stay connected through a network while remaining mostly unnoticed by the general userbase, simply by utilizing tags no-one else uses or creating accounts that are basically just lists of other people that post pizza to follow.

It really appears to be a problem in how tumblr is structured and likely can't be solved without radically changing the way the site works. I almost doubt the porn purge will fix this.

Newgrounds has a history of allowing "extreme" content and if it sees a significant infux of users I'm sure they will improve the way artwork is displayed.

What would fix it is shit like making it against the rules to like or reblog CP and also delete the actual posts that have CP in them instead of just the images, so instead of just taking the pictures down you're hitting portions of the actual network.
