Even if I'd have a desktop running Windows 10, why would it matter?

(DI.FM in case you're wondering)

nunya business

how to install fonts systemwide on ubuntu? I move the fonts to ~/.fonts and run sudo fc-cache -fv but the font doesn't show up when i try to change it on gnome-terminal.

Attached: thicccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc.jpg (1242x2208, 205K)

install gnome-font-viewer and it will have an install button when u open the ttf and u press install and it will work

Attached: Artix_Desktop2.png (1920x1080, 1.2M)

Just did that and it still doesn't show up on gnome-terminal. fml!

Idk then turn your computer off and on again

ok settled on what to run on muh librebutt t60

Attached: Screenshot_2018-12-17_13-30-15.png (1400x1050, 750K)

I installed terminator and the fonts showed up. Moral of the story, gnome terminal sucks!

I'll post here when I get home

Attached: screencap.png (1910x1052, 515K)

~/.fonts is deprecated
use ~/.local/share/fonts or /usr/share/fonts instead.
also check the output of fc-list. it should show the newly added fonts.

sadlad?

Want to make my own status widgets and buttons, anyone got any tips about how to interact with i3 or X to make those (via bash scripts or C, if it comes to it) ? I want to learn something rather than just pacman-ing in a status line or making another boring i3bar

bloatniggers

And what would your preffered setup be, oh mighty preacher?
I bet your idea of a minimalistic and functional gui would be a computerized dildo terminal that you can control with your over-developed rectal muscles

is dis gud?

Attached: thebasement.png (2560x1440, 1.55M)

What do you use the VM for?

>And what would your preffered setup be
debian+dwm

Why is anything other than that bloat?

I really want to like Yaru, but the titlebars are way too dark, contrasting very poorly with the shell on my old LCD.
Why are you using titlebars on firefox tho?

Attached: ss.jpg (1920x1200, 324K)

Is not technically a VM. Is a linux subsystem for windows where you can use all popular linux distros (screenshot). Is useful for "dev" related stuff since it's easier to do it in bash (for ex python scripts, quick ssh, etc) at least for me.

ah, that's pretty neat

cool color script.
nice colors.
nice bar, love the clean rice.

whats the guy about to do with that fish

make a wrapper script for i3 that pipes output from i3status. it's super easy. I made nice one in ruby if you're interested

ok dude you can pretend you're in mr robot over there, i'll stay over here and pretend beos won the os wars

Ahhh, is that the kind of thing that can be accomplished with bash as well? (I'm new to scripting in general, I've only done some OOP [[ java ]] through uni, and even then only learned that it's a bit clunky!). If you think the ruby example is useful then I'd love to see it!

>debian
most stable and most secure/polished distro
>dwm
most minimal wm in the universe

Stability and security is bloat
> Fat people are stable because they're fat
> Fat people are secure because they're harder to steal

I've been using KDE Neon lately, and I like it.

fat is bloat
thin is minimal

Stability and security are not bloat
vulnerabilities and bugs are bloat

>debian
>most secure
Backporting security fixes from new versions to outdated versions is just pretending to be secure

>dwm
>minimal
It has a built-in bar which makes it bloater than necessary

You guys are cool

>Features are not bloat
No shit
Implementation is what it all comes down to

yo can I have the script that shows system status?

software minimalism is a dead end ideology. software/hardware frugalism is the correct path: a holistic approach that's "good enough" and fits the users needs and limits (time, skill, hardware, money, etc), instead of minimal "supremacism" that chases lower numbers to display in a terminal just for the sake of it, user be damned

What are the css color properties for reply form called? I want to match the color.

sure here ya go: pastebin.com/GTzhd8L6

you can accomplish the same thing in bash, I wrote one in bash a while ago but ruby being fully object oriented is much cleaner and easier to work with. It can really be done in any language since it's just reading/writing to std io.

in your i3 bar config just replace status command "i3status" provide the script. I set it up to be a wrapper for i3status. So i3status is set to output a few things like time, battery and network, and the rest is done in the script. make sure you i3status config is set to none.

Ugh, beos/haiku OS always gives me a raging hard on. The snapping tab windows to group windows is muaaahh amazing.

Attached: YOU_KNOW_2.gif (450x478, 587K)

Cheers man, that seems easier than I'd imagined (Ruby looks pretty neat too!) Do you know of any way of piping the output to something other than an i3bar? Like, making something conky-esque from scratch? (Without getting too hung up on compositing, like, outputting to a terminal or a basic i3 container)

based and redpilled

I haven't used conky but most of the bar alternatives like polybar pipe to i3bar since it's i3s main statusbar. So whenever the wm needs to restart it, it has full control. But yeah you can pipe to pretty much anything if you wanted to as long as you know what format it's expecting.
