CPU
>CPUs less threads usually suffer lower 0.1% minimums
>Athlon 200GE - Bare minimal desktop/gaming
>R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-9700k/8700k - If you have a $2000+ budget and pairing with a 2080 or better
>R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

RAM
>Always choose at least a 2 stick kit
>8GB - Bare minimum/Light desktop use.
>16GB - Standard amount
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula

Graphics cards
>RTX 2000 cards; cheap models usually low yield processor. Aim for factory OC versions for best performance
>use your due diligence with cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans. They may be cheap, but won't get high boost clocks like better models
1080p
>RX 570/580/1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options
1080p@144hz
>Vega 56/1070ti best value, Free/G-sync monitor highly recommended
1440p@60-75hz
>Vega/1070ti/1080/2070
1440p@100+hz
>1080ti/2080
4K
>Upscale from 1620-1800p. Or 2080Ti, but awful value
OpenCL use
>Vega 64

Storage
>Backup before using StoreMi
>Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Display
>Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards
>START YOUR BUILD WITH A MONITOR FIRST, then make a build to drive it appropriately

EVGA or Seasonic

depends who the OEM is, but generally seasonic.

Best value 2666+ 4GBx2 RAM modules? By best value I mean cheapest clearly.

good case deal? yes or no? any recommendations?

Where is the cheapest place I can buy a new rx 580 in the UK

Good ol Ripjaws

my 2080ti being delivered today, how excite

Attached: 1500936153355.jpg (362x362, 31K)

how bad of an idea is a lightly used 1080 gpu?
specifically an evga superclocked 2

are curved monitors a meme? the only 144hz VA in my price range is curved

curved > flat

I've been using one for a few months now and it's fine.

A bit different at first, but you don't even notice it after a week.

what's the point of curved?

Reposting:
Will be upgrading to this soon (uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ytBFr6) already have the case and a 970 graphics card (asus.com/uk/Graphics-Cards/STRIXGTX970DC2OC4GD5/overview/) as well as OS

I'm not sure if i should get a 1TB M.2 or 500GB M.2
I might just pull the tigger on the 1TB
uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/JLdxFT/samsung-970-evo-10tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-mz-v7e1t0bw

Also thinking of at some point even later upgrade my 970 to:

current build

Makes it feel like it has a bit of depth, and so feels a bit more immersive.

It's not really anything significant.

The fact is though, curved is the only available for certain panels with certain specs at certain price segments.

Could I expect any compatibility issues from putting a 980ti onto a motherboard from 2010/2011? Is there any specification that could outright tell me whether or not it can work together?
It'll have an i5-2500k still in it, if that even matters.

no

if your pci-e slot is 2.0 and you plug a pci-e 3.0 card in you lose about 1-3% performance. but it's nothing major and would not cause any stability/compatability issues.

ok, ty

Good deal or will I die?

Attached: _20181214_181141.jpg (720x1013, 111K)

should I upgrade my cpu and ram (i5-4460 and 8gb ram) or my graphics card (gtx 960)?

I can't afford everything right now ..

Yes good deal, just buy it already, stop spamming

Probably a samsung panel, so it's good.

CHG70 from samsung is similar.

CPU upgrade means mobo upgrade too senpai. But if you have about $450 I'd say go for the CPU and Mobo. RAM is fine for now.

Also fuck these captchas

if you're not satisfied with the performance then upgrade.

if you don't have money right now then save up.

recommend me a 27" 1440p 100hz+ monitor for under 300EUR.

315euros for a 1070 zotac mini, yay or nay?

What would be a good monitor to pair with a GTX1070?

Preferably something 24" because of space and 1080p for high frames

help

It's bad get something else. I suggest something by Fractal Design. I have an R5 and love it but its large

why is it bad?

Rosewill build quality is meme-tier and although i dont have that case, I've had their Challenger and it was a "challenge" to work inside and had terrible cable management space.

Best mobo for 2600
no more than 130$
only amazon plz
I want to overclock the CPU and use it for gaming

I want to upgrade but it's so expensive for such small benefits
fuck these last few years

THE PRICE HAS GONE UP TO $630 DURING MY PROCRASTINATION.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Attached: _20181217_130752.jpg (720x1020, 108K)

if you got at least a ivy bridge i7 and gtx 980 or better, you don't need to upgrade until at least next gen consoles arrive.

Good, fucking moron, we told you two days ago it was a good monitor.

FUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOU

Cry more you little cunt, serves you right.

b450 tomahawk

Install the keepa addon. then you see if something is priced lower than usual to buy it right away.

what prebuilt specs should I look for to get best performance out of $400? Is Intel 8100 any good? Use case is for programming.

>acer
you dodged a bullet. their monitors are shit.

pls respond, i even noticed that i could get 10euro discount on it so that would make it 305

Attached: 1500846939038.png (944x1024, 508K)

Where did you get that idea?

You deserve it

owned acer sexual predator monitors. what a dumb name.

DDR4-3200:
CL14-14-14-34 or CL16-18-18-38?
The CL14 one is about 110 euros more expensive, do these 1.25ns really matter?
If not, why does it exist? What are the use cases?

for intel definitely the cheaper one
for amd also the cheaper one unless you don't have money burning a hole in your pocket
b-die ram (3200/14 for example) used to matter more for ryzen, now it still matters but not as much. hopefully zen 2 will close the gap even more on that

>anecdotal evidence
kek

The difference is 60€ at most, where the fuck are you looking?

>first hand experience means nothing
>guess you can throw the entire review industry out the window
good one chucko now kys

I've been looking at these two.
geizhals.eu/a1734617.html?hloc=at
geizhals.eu/a1561153.html?hloc=at

They're paid to do that, and they review dozens of models every year.

You buy a new monitor every 2-5 years.

Yeah, I'll stick to professional reviewers. Thanks.

How's the Transcend 110S SSD? 256GB, just for the OS and some software. Is it any good?

>I'll stick to sponsored reviews and literal ads over actual customer feedback

obvious troll is obvious bye don't forget to kys this season

Jesus fucking christ my dude

Pretty sure you can find it even cheaper if you look around more

>b450 tomahawk
Thanks!

Oh I know there's cheaper sticks around. I was interested in exactly these though.
Hence I wondered if it would make a difference.

that teamdark one is on sale, it's usually 200 and up. and people say it's not very good b-die ram anyway

why is RAM so fucking expensive? I remember it being the cheapest component while building back in the good old days

>tftcentral is paid ads

lmao neck yourself, if you've ever worked with customers a day in your life, you'd know any customer review is fucking worthless.

What do you look for in motherboards to determine whether or not it has good VRMs or other features? What separates good and bad boards besides brands and BIOS/UEFI preferences?

physically look at the VRM configuration, you can generally see the components, or at least the chokes.

You want nice sized heatsinks preferably with fins.

damn where have you been these few past years

under a rock since 2014

>What do you look for in motherboards to determine whether or not it has good VRMs or other features? What separates good and bad boards besides brands and BIOS/UEFI preferences?
by looking at the actual board and features on the box. cheap motherboards have low VRM count or are missing essential overclocking features like load line calibration. also good to look at reviews to see how they fare and if there are any build quality issues.

Why is /pcbg/ such a shit general?

Because it doesn't include underage anime girls, screenfetches, or AYYYMD/Jewvidia Wojaks?

>or AYYYMD/Jewvidia Wojaks?
this is wRONG

at this point i'm convinced the typical pcbg poster is heavily underaged

well most people that post here looking for advice are crossboard posters from /v/, /vg/, and other places. the average ages there are much lower than the average Jow Forums age.

>ram expensive as fuuark
>no wait now it's cpu's
>no wait now it's HDD, thx floods
>no wait now it's gpu's, thx buttcoin
>no wait now it's ram again
>no wait it's gpu's again
>no wait now it's motherboards

There's always one part that's inflated in price.

Anyone? How does it compare to other NVMe SSDs?

I want a portrait monitor. I figure if I have a 27" 1440p main landscape monitor then the portrait mode monitor should be smaller? Is there even 1440p 24" ? What resolution/size combos do people usually use?

it hasn't actually changed that much. what changed was the amount people buy
when I built my first computer people recommended 4 and nobody needed more than that. then it was 8. now it's 16.

I hate using multiple monitors with different pixel density, so I always make sure to have either identical pixels per inch, or at least within 10 PPI.

My current setup is a 4k 43" and a 1440p 27" which have 103 and 109 PPI respectively.

dual monitor desk VESA mounts worth it? y/n

Attached: vesa.jpg (1280x960, 221K)

for identical panels, yes.

Otherwise get two different mounts.

For my dual 25" 1440p panels, dual arm mount was great.

For my 43" 4k and my 27" 1440p 144hz, I have the 43" wall mounted, and the 27" on it's own arm off on the side that can be moved closer if needed.

Used them at work and they're pretty great desu

Dual 1440p 144hz monitors. Are 1080tis in sli good enough or do I need rtx on?

why would you do dual 1440p 144hz?

No games support 2 monitor gaming, it's 1 or 3.

Right, thanks. So I suppose I get a 21 inch 1080p for portrait

I know non-mk2 MSI Armor ain't that great, but... how worse is it? I'm wondering if anyone here has tried overclocking or undervolting on an RX 570 (8GB) MSI Armor and which results were there.

Already have them. Now just answer my question

I don't talk to retards, sorry.

Yup

got a deal for a GIGABYTE rx 580 aorus 8gb for $180. Anything wrong with GIGABYTE cards? Always had Sapphire when using AMD cards before

it's a fine model you got

can somebody help me what are these pci things and how do i get drivers

Attached: Untitled.png (1366x768, 82K)

BCM43142A0 is a bluetooth adapter. You can probably get the drivers if you google it.

Not sure what those other things are.

download hwinfo64
find out mobo
????
download drivers from manufacturer website

Depends on how cheap you get it. If you're only saving a few bucks, then no.

2200G is a sidegrade from an 8350, and a 1060 is a sidegrade from a 970. If you're that broke, wait for CES to see what new products are coming up

i5 2500K is questionable for a 980Ti @ 1080p. Upgrade to an i7 3770

I would say neither, but if you must upgrade one, upgrade the graphics card when new ones come out. Getting about time for a whole system upgrade. Maybe buy an SSD while you wait

Too expensive to get the CL14 IMO

Is i5-2500(not K) still good enough? Is 1050ti a suitable gpu for it and 1080p@60 monitor?

Sli is pretty much dead. You would need a 2080 ti and I’m not sure what kind of performance you would get but probably well above 60 but not quite 144.

Yes, but consider a 3GB 1050 or a used RX 470 (knowing that it's likely it was used for mining)

What's the best mobo manufacturers for AMD?

What's a good replacement for a Samsung SSD 970 Evo? The literal Jews over at B&H photo told me that they have no idea when my part is coming in after lying to me twice, then being like "can't do anything about it! We got your money fucker!" So I'd like to cancel and get something else since it's been 3 weeks.

I am
im not broke, i just like to keep my costs low
but yeah i'll wait for CES
