it's blue and cute, op is right

I use waterfox just because it werks.

Also not needing to change a bunch of settings on each install is nice.

I been thinking to drop ff and start using icecat.
Does sync work? What about security updates?
Do i need to know something else?

Why should I use this over firefox?

>why is it GNU IceCat?
1. it's cute
2. it's committed to being free software only like ungoogled-chromium
3. doesn't bow to stuff like digital restrictions management

This with no cookies ,no history , no newtab page and no cache at all

I like Quantum quite a bit. Is there a fork that is v57 or higher?

Yeah, latest version of IceCat.

Hyperbola maintains an Iceweasel hard fork that uses UXP instead of WebExtensions. Apparently WebExtensions pose a security risk over XUL Extensions for some reason. If PaleMoon ever seriously shit the bed I'd consider using that instead. Hyperbola seems nice overall but Arch-derivatives have the AIDS, but at least you can download individual projects from their git repo.

current version of ciecat uses Friefox esr which is firefox 60 if i remember correctly.

>GNU IceCat
is it free as in freedom?

Yes.
Do you legit think RMS would approve something not libre to be called GNU?

is it secure tho

That's nonsense. Webextensions are safer than XUL extensions. XUL extensions are so amazing because they can do just about anything. Webextensions are sandboxed and limited in comparison.

there is no good fork. But if you put a gun to my head, palemoon, at least its trying to preserve an older design that isn't faggy.

i think seamonkey is the best, precisely beause it isnt a fork, but because it is the original vision of the browser, directly from mozilla, upd to date, without any of the anti-features they have added in desperate attempts to gain users and revenue.

tfw seamonkey isn't in void's repos, feels bad

I predict microsoft will open source edge and then that will be better than even chrome.

Why no cache?

Today OP was a pretty nice guy.

Fireforks are autistic and useless

Stop shilling your shitty neocities website that looks like I made it in grade 7

>he doesn't know how the web looked like before the normies entered it
found the zoomer

Right it no longer looks like that for a reason
You don't have to use tons of JS cancer and shit to make a website that doesn't make me want to pry out my eyeballs

> Current year
> Using Firecucks or Firecuck forks

Use Brave or Vivaldi you dumb cucks

that's a big dick

>Brave
>Vivaldi

Just say, "use Google Chrome", it's the same shit.

B-but muh different skins!

Blink based browsers are much better. Everything will be broken on non-blink based browsers eventually as Chrome has the most marketshare.

I'll switch once that actually happens.

S T I L L not in portage

>"Everything will be broken on non-blink based browsers eventually"
>unironically using "web apps"

>while IceCat has always cared about it - but only in the new version (60.2) has finally removed all spyware
wew lad

web "apps"

>retarded ancom neocities site

BASED and icepilled

How is IceCat with add-on compatibility? I tried using Pale Meme for a while but it took a “fuck add-ones even though thats the main reason people liked Firefox so much in the first place” approach

>spyware.neocities.org/articles/browsers.html
autism

icecat is slow and buggy

that one's buggy also

I like Waterfox so I haven't switched

Slow, very slow, pages look like shit. It can't even properly load the official FSF website, it sort of skips most of the css.

Why does it get so much praise? Is there a setting or something to make it work as fast and normal as ungoogled chromium?

is free

It's fully compatible with anything that works on the current FF stable

Yeah disable LibreJS.

I'm looking to ditch Firefox soon, should I use Icecat or Ungoogled Chromium? Only extensions I care about are Ubo/Umatrix and https everywhere if that matters.

yea it's actually better than majority of websites today.
