Just because you have owner rights doesn't mean you have to own the entire computer. In linux systems you don't sudo every file, nor are you logged in as root since it's a security issue. The same thing goes for windows. But you should always be aware on how to take ownership over the specific files you want

I use VR on Windows 7. What device are you using? Oculus works just fine, even on my old hardware.
