>Boring edition
Finally I'll fit in. Yours is really nice
this is my boring. Nice to meet your boring.
wow all devuan and artix. systemd is out.
nothing is more boring than my work pc
SystemD is IBM cloud software shit now. It's doomed.
>different resolutions
Gross.
Funny, and weird.
is this the new desktop thread
are you writing a common lisp cd database?
Yo, thought i'd try making a rice. im having fun, i can see using a wm for being productive.
also, i want to figure out how to make the terminal windows transparent with i3-gaps, i've tried the stuff i found on google but im too much of a brainlet to figure it out
r8/h8
and i forgot my screenshot. like i said, brainlet
>i've tried the stuff i found on google but im too much of a brainlet to figure it out
better RTFM some more
do you have the original cirno pic before the flat color edit?
anime is for children
damn, looks like we got a badass, grownup adult over here!
>make the terminal windows transparent with i3-gaps,
to get real transparency you need a compositor
wiki.archlinux.org
what font do you use?
>anime
pfffffttt yotsuba is a manga you dolt
Very nice, I like it a lot. And I don't normally compliment people on their screenshots. You have a good eye.
Mine's boring too, I don't change anything these days.
Does anyone know how I can display the window buttons without icons in the taskbar? It's on xubuntu uwu
>ubuntuforums.org
Thanks. I did look it up but didn't get anything. Guess I'm just retarded
Being a good Linux user means knowing how to locate solutions and solve problems yourself. Have fun.
Why does everyone put their panels at the top of the screen? I feel like such a pleb now with my bottom panel.
i know you're baiting but where do you think you are
eyes gravitate towards the lower half of the screen and you'll be looking at your panel less often than anything else
Still tweaking this setup.
compton will be your friend here
Alright, I'm sold.
only showing one monitor, since the rest is just empty atm.
Only started using Linux 3 days ago. Any advice on where to start in terms of making my desktop look better?
yeah, relatively new install still. Haven't gotten around to setting it up. This should help with the autism.
disgusting
Thanks for the heads up
anime wallpaper of a cute anime girl
Is a cute anime girl (male) okay?
yeah only if she has a femenine penis though
in all seriousness the best advice i can give you is to look at other people's desktops and decide what you like and want. I can't really tell you how to make your desktop look good because we probably have different taste.
Unironically browse reddit customization boards (I recommend unixart, unixporn is shit) and browse desktop threads like these
Does it have to be shown on the wallpaper or can it be implied?
Alright, thanks. I didn't think of looking at reddit, so I'll go ahead and try that.
gee noo lean puss
> Kathe matea
Not bad, my family used to have coal on repeat when it first came out
It's pointless as you've replied at all.
boring screenshot for a boring thread
hello nice yuno i like your desktops continue posting
what a tiny dick
When it says herbstluftwm is a manual tiling wm, does it mean you cannot have predefined sections of the screen that will automatically be used when opening an new window? So you must determine a section every time you open a new one?
what is this
im really confused is that mac OS?
tried lxqt but it's shit
nice cat
>niggas on the moon
MY NIGGA
uwu
give me all your themes, especially the vivaldi one
Wallpaper, please.
no; you can set where things go. it just means that you can use 'frames' to split your screen into areas where you can put windows, which gives you a lot more control. it's a bit hard to explain, i highly recommend installing it and playing around with it a bit. it takes a little bit of getting used to; but it feels a lot more natural to me now. and you can actually have dynamic tiling too, if you just use one frame and then choose the right tiling algorithm.
>two other people in the room
Let's all love Mikusaki
Nani, this is boring immasen. Good rice
Neat, screams modern; for better or worse. N/A/10
8/10
8/10, practical minimalism that doesn't strain the eye
6.9/10
6/10
10/10, objectively
8/10. You made me laugh at MacOS without a hint of degradation for once.
8/10. Cute flat Cirno... wait that's tautologous
7/10, fellow Newaita bro
7/10
6/10
6/10
Pretty consistently good rices these days
why do i get a 6/10 it's not fair
at least you got a rating; i got nothing wtf user
u
Gomen ne. You got a six out of ten because I'm just particularly not a fan of Suruu icons. Should be an honary 9/10 because of based Artix. Only reason I'm not using Artix right now is that my XPS hates anything that isn't Debian based.
Gomen ne, I didn't think my opinion was valuable enough to rate every rice. Tell me which one is yours and I'll rate it I guess kek
Don't you wanna grow old with me
gotta give us our (you)'s, user. we need sustenance!
this is perfect
>shitty fences with stock rainmeter and vertical taskbar
so rice
I want to get some nice floating tabs linking to Jow Forums and various things, but I don't want to install any pre-done packages or tools, so I guess I'm going to have to get creative with xev and xinput
After not having icons visible for awhile, it's hard to go back to using them. It looks so cluttered, even if it's organized. Also, winter is great. I leave my bedroom window open so my idle temperature can reach as low as 10 degrees Celsius.
cool blog moron
This is already the Jow Forums /soc/ thread and you presumably posted your desktop here, glass houses.
I didnt
And dont speak until you're spoken to (unless you're me, I get to speak when I please)
Pretty fresh install.
Please no bully. This is only my second time EVER using FreeBSD. I have not riced it much yet.
Only on i3 because I could not get bspwm to work properly.
go with dwm
Rates
I like yours
I only like yours because of the cat.
i use pwm with xft on freebsd, tabs are pretty comfy
>This is only my second time EVER using FreeBSD
why did you quit for the first time?
Probably just was to unfamiliar to me. I don't really remember. This time I'm going to use it for at least a month. This is my 30 day challenge.
My laptop seems to be hotter on freebsd than on debian though. How do I fix that? Is there an lm_sensor equivalent for freebsd?
Jow Forums is not your little anime fantasy where you can say that cringey kawaii shit. We're a bunch of fat NEETs rating each others' operating systems.
my laptop only have temperature sensor and i could get it with sysctl -n hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature, but it could easily be hardware-dependent, including other hw monitoring tools
you should check process cpu usage first though
>lain
stop
When I did that I got 0.1C as result. That can't be right.
As a man of the North I like boring and hate colors.
>macos
kys
that's what i said about hardware-dependence. try sysctl hw.acpi.thermal and examine all available temperature results. there are a few values that are 0.1C on my machine too
love lain/10
cozy/10
thanks I like your's too
