i want to die

Bored tonight. Was about to install linux as a dual boot, but I couldn't think of a good reason to do it.

Just for the heck of it? Or to learn? I'm still not convinced about Linux. I'd sooner want to modify an earlier version of windows, or try a new OS entirely.

I used to install it a bunch all the time to try different distros and play with it by customizing. Might go through with it actually just for aesthetics.

What modifications do you make to earlier windows versions? 7 was the most polished imo, but I worry for security

I'm curious if some of the oldest windows versions like 3.1 can be modernized at all. That's what I have the fondest memories of. I wonder how it matches up security wise these days considering it runs on a completely different processor architecture.

Been browsing Jow Forums more now that Jow Forums is overrun by spammy shitposts, thanks for asking OP

I knew a guy a few years back who purposefully used Win98 and still did some gaming, so maybe 3.1 can still work out. It's just so disappointing what Microsoft is doing with 10. Older versions had a sense of everything being there for a reason. Now they're starting from scratch on what I think is a pretty gross foundation.

That's pretty much all software these days. Most things are made for the benefit of businesses rather than users. Packed with tracking features and connecting to every popular service under the sun.

I used to stick to both Jow Forums and /sci/ a while back, but /sci/ went to shit during the summer months. I suppose because, ya know, summerfags and that "you have to have a fairly high IQ to understand Rick and Morty" plebbit kind of appeal that a Math and Science board would offer. Anyways, I've avoided that board like the plague for several months now and am considering going back in hopes that it's gotten better.

What are your favorite boards right now? I'm trying to browse the site more and make the most out of it

Jow Forums is my main board

I had defaulted to /tg/ for my frontpage for awhile, since I figured it required some measure of creativity and would have unique content. But i've started to see a lot of patterns still.

/diy/ is pretty interesting since people have to solve problems or present some of the stuff they've built. Some of it is mundane stuff I don't really care about, but sometimes you see cool ideas that gets the brain working.

Jow Forums I'm mostly here for the retro threads or the occasional good discussion. I make my own too as you can tell, but they don't always take off. Jow Forums seems to have a lot of very prominent samey patterns. Mostly " X vs X " kind of threads. It just seems like they're there trying to get people to buy stuff.

Beyond that I don't really go to many other boards. I hate seeing patterns, and even /b/ which by the name itself should be anything and everything, is just several variations of the same porn threads, so whats the point really.

What distro would Hex Maniac use?

>any other sites you hang out on instead?
I wish I could say yes, the internet is pretty dull these days. I like newgrounds, but I don't really make threads there. What does your filter list look like?

I doubt she'd be a linux user unless someone installed it for her. But I bet she visits some pretty niche forums in her everyday routine.

Installed fedora today it doesn't work as well as I expected, also got dubs about 10 times and trips twice.

I want to have a classic style guestbook on my neocities. This guy has one pinksushi.neocities.org/index.html but it redirects to another site that sells info to advertisers. Any ideas?

Was browsing Neocities and found a site that talked about 'Japanese permanent hair straightening'. So I researched it out and found this youtu.be/f0zd60YNAzg

Apparently its a meticulous process where they apply chemicals to break down the bonds in hair then reseal them. The results are pretty damn cool. Curly hair stays straight forever until new hair replaces it.
