Is it better than blockada
Christopher Flores
How is Blokada nowadays? Does it still supports only adblocking through Local VPN? Or they got advanced to local proxy, too?
Dns66 or AdGuard for me
Levi Hernandez
Local VPN, thankfully don't need to root
Jordan King
no root: ublock origin
root: hosts file + ublock origin
Samuel Young
How do those ad blockers work?
Liam Bailey
You have a list of addresses you're not allowed to connect to. That means you can block any content that comes from advertising servers.
Of course, that leaves lots of holes in web pages, so ad blockers fill up that whitespace and shrink the page to look natural.
How do you even get ublock origin on android
Justin Watson
it needs root so yes.
It works better and does not use vpn redirection to block ads but hostfile which is present on your phone.
Connor Ramirez
How does it work better, blokada still downloads a million hosts
Ian Perry
It allows you to have, you know, an actually usable VPN connection while also blocking ads.

Blokada is bloated as shit, you may not notice it because new phones are retardedly overkill, but I refuse to support bloat
Zachary Cooper
What part of it is bloat?
Aiden Sanders
>have Nexus 5 as a backup phone
>it has AdAway on it and runs like new
>hear about Blokada and replace it on both devices
>Nexus 5 comes to a grinding halt
>go back to AdAway
>like new again
>delete it from my main phone as well
Matthew Bailey
>root
ad away
>not root

>have a 32bit SoC 2GB RAM phone
>wonder why everything is lagging
It was the very thing holding Android back, but the Nexus 5 had astoundingly horrible battery life as well.
Cameron Gonzalez
Can't have been blokada, it runs perfectly on my Samsung galaxy s2
Gabriel Cook
>32bit SoC 2GB RAM phone
Why would a hosts blocker ever need anything more than that, everything else runs perfectly
James Cooper
64 addressing allows for better hashing functions
Xavier Carter
It doesn't, but the 32bit architecture was holding Android back. UI lag and major stutter is due to that.

this and don't install apps with ads.
you can too make a 15 lines script to update your hosts file and remove adaway.
Blake Howard
I don't use/like firefox
>your hosts file
Not rooted
Joshua Watson
Using adhell3 on non-rooted s8 atm, it's pretty fucking comfy
Lucas Robinson
Had uBlock origin + Firefox for a long time but this is much faster.
Angel Scott
you can't block my ass kiddo
Brayden Powell
VPN vs host file.
If you have root, go for host, it's a zero battery drain.
Asher Taylor
>remove adaway.
What would be the difference? is Adaway botnet?
Ethan Wood
no, just less one app draining your battery and it's nice run a script on termux.
