There is absolutely no other reason. nada.
Prove me Wrong
nonfree
cost inefficent
The entire OSX system and application software stack is buggy and bloated. Screen and aluminum chassis are nice, though.
Overpriced underpowered hardware that always has an overheating problem.
To be fair, its great for first party apps. Other than Linux is the much better choice.
non-standard shit
you even need to buy apple screwdriver just to fucking remove the fucking screw
I hate OSX because it is locked down and the window management is utter shit. People say it is "intuitive," but wouldn't it be "intuitive" for the close window button to actually halt the process? Would't it be "intuitive" for the minimize button to minimize the window to it's spot on the dock instead of shifting it to a completely different spot on the dock, causing the dock to grow past a reasonable size? They got rid of workspace and now when you hit maximize most windows go full screen. Sometimes the dock will not even come up in this mode, though granted this was an issue 4 years ago. Though even 4 years ago, why would someone ever release this and call it "polished?"
Now listen here you little shit
I worked on a mac book pro for two years, and it was complete shit
The hardware is ass
Software is ass
The OS feels insane
But it's pretty
>windows 10
>Doing work for a living
then what's your primary os
no one cares about posix compliant. it's not a valid point to say your os is good.
it runs like shit unless it's on official apple hardware, which is overpriced, underspecced, and general shit build quality, with zero ability to fuck with your hardware yourself. the os feels locked down and unintuitive; and it's not even that i used another thing first and got used to it, i used a mac first. I'm not gonna hate someone for using a mac, and it's fine for like my parents who are too dumb to run anything else and just want to go on the internet and for it to look pretty, but i could never use it as my main os myself, and people shilling it here all the time is annoying.
Closed source GUI
Closed source network stack
Not trustworthy in this day and age.
The Mach kernel (on which XNU is based) is a microkernel.
Microkernels are completely against the Unix philosophy and everything it stands for. Don't believe me? Have a read: harmful.cat-v.org
Hence, no, it really isn't a Unix kernel.
It's a """"""""""Unix"""""""""" kernel
Please stop with this meme
>OS has Unix kernel
>X is not Unix.
>- UNIX can be successfully run as an application program
> `Run' perhaps, `successfully' no. Name a product that succeeds
> by running UNIX as an application.
Win10
no..?
Jow Forums likes OS X for the most part, it's far fucking better than winshit. only winfags hate the OS...
apple is an absolute scam company and is complete garbage. Their OS isn't that bad.
Why I hate Applel:
I've had 3 newer macbooks since my late-2008 13" Unibody.
All of them broke in various ways. (2010 13", smc firmware update bricked machine - Applel wouldn't fix, 2013 15" retina macbook - GPU fried apple replaced after many months of pestering, 2015 13" Macbook Retina - stopped booting earlier in the year, Apple won't tell me whats wrong other than it needs a new logic board at $1600 and won't pay for it)
2008 /still/ just werks.
2008 is upgradeable
2008 has user replaceable battery
2008 has more ports
2008 had both optical and HDD bays
Every laptop since then has been built worse, less serviceable, far less upgradeable and has had features and ports removed without replacement.
Apple pretty much OWNED the laptop market 2006-2010, they were the one to beat.
All they needed to do was add proper service contracts for enterprise and possibly a port replicator and they would have owned the enterprise market.
Instead they doubled down on locking shit down, said fuck you to enterprise users and started killing off the windows server integration work.
You iPajeets really love the Steve cock don't you?
theverge.com
X is a display server you fucking idiot.
Also UNIX is proprietary shitware like IBM AIX nobody fucking cares about that on Jow Forums.
>Their OS isn't that bad.
They literally stole code from Commadore, the vga code, the menu bar, window management, they didn't even bother hiding it.
Mongol
The dock isn't supposed to come up in full screen mode, although it does occasionally, literally a
and?
and fuck niggers
agreed
none of that makes them bad
I’d buy an macbook if it wasn’t expensive.
I love how personal it is. I watch my family use it and it’s pretty much connected to their iPhone. The ability to text/view your texts, facetime, etc.. The screen and the UI is nice.
iTunes on my thinkpad is the closest I get to personal. I’m able to drag my music/files into itunes and it’s automatically synced to my phone without having to connect them via cable. Works on any of my laptops, too.
Everything past ios5 is a burning pile of garbage. At least one of the updates turned an iPhone into a frag grenade that wounded 7 people in a store so that's the only thing I like about them
I think you’re lying. My macbook has worked fine since I got it 3 years ago. Apple’s customer service is also typically really fucking generous. I brought in my iPhone one day because it had a problem. We went through various procedures to try and solve it. Ultimately it was boiled down to a hardware problem and not software, so they replaced the phone all together. Literally a new phone.
Vastly overpriced for the hardware they have
>I think you’re lying.
You can think whatever you want, consumer sentiment shows I'm correct. Apple sells less than half the hardware they sold 5 years ago.
>Apple’s customer service is also typically really fucking generous
No, they aren't.
>Ultimately it was boiled down to a hardware problem and not software, so they replaced the phone all together. Literally a new phone.
I think you're lying.
Most people like MacOS and apple products. It’s only a very vocal minority of people (who probably can’t afford apple products) who ‘hate’ apple.
Ignore and pity them.
> Dock isn't supposed to come up in full screen mode
Then how are you expected to switch through apps seamlessly? Why is launchpad a separate app and not part of Aqua? Why do I have to do some execution for lauchpad, swipe up, or press a keyboard combo to switch apps. Why can I not use the dock to switch apps. The dock is the fundamental part of switching apps in full screen mode? Why does the rules change suddenly when you go into full screen mode?
MacOS has always be praised as having a simple UI, but if my grandmother used this it would be a disaster. A UI should be a tool of productivity and simple to learn. Not a hindrance on the user.
>my grandmother is too stupid for unix
And?
>Thinking UNIX is MacOS's UI
She runs XUbuntu just fine.
If they were so good, I'd be using them already and I wouldn't need you to convince me. Now go crawl back into whatever hole you climbed out of to count your sheckles.
If you still have the 2015 mbp, I had the same issue.
I shut it down to conserve battery because I was waiting for a replacement for the shitty made magsafe 2, and when it came I plugged it in and it showed the orange light meaning it was charging and the tried to turn it on.
It just wouldn't boot up.
I did all the diagnostic shit and everything came back normal but it just wouldn't boot up.
Turns out Apple has installed these humidity sensors and everything just slightly above normal humidity causes them to go off, if you shut down the laptop at that point it just won't turn on until after a who-knows-how-long safety period has passed, even if you have the laptop in a room with a dehumidifier running 24/7.
I was checking the mbp daily to see if it would boot and it only booted up like 1.5 weeks later.
I still have the mbp and use it but my next one will be a thinkpad, I can't afford this shit when I'm working from home when I specifically bought it to make my life easier.
I don't hate Apple. That being said, OS X is proprietary so I want nothing to do with it.
>Prove me Wrong

I don't even find it pretty at all
You gotta be joking. Apples software is the fucking worst.
I don't hate them, I'm just not the targeted audience
>iphone
I need root access and outside store apps
I want to control updates
I never used the front camera, not even once
>imac
I need to upgrade it
desktop is the only option
>macbook
I need a laptop for conferences and presentations
I don't need more than what a 300€ machine has to offer, I use 10 times a year
>smartwatch
Don't need it
>apple tv
don't watch tv
I have access to lots of movies before cinema release for free and legally through my job
Currently using windows 10 for unity and I do everything else on linux (100% of my time atm)
Apple products are simply not an options even if I wanted to. I work with vfx studios and there not a simple apple products.
>non-issue
>fair criticism
>overpriced standard Intel trash in a case made of soda cans with piss poor cooling and keyboards that break from a little dust that runs an OS with no good software (GIMP is broken, Inkscape is broken, Firefox is sometimes broken)
No thanks. Macs and MacOS are for queers and niggers. OP is both a queer and a nigger.
