DDR5 6400MHz

There's no reason to go for a Hard Drive enclosure that's USB 3.1 if I'm only going to be using it for 7200 RPM drives, yeah? USB 3.0 won't gimp a platter drive.

My case only has slots for 2 HDDs and 2 SSDs, and I want to swap out this 1TB WD Black I've had for a few years with a 4-6 TB HDD for storage (for stuff like anime and shit), while putting the old HDD on a USB enclosure.

Is OCIng b die ram safe? Stock is 3000mhz planning to squeeze a few hundred more out of jt

Pretty sure OCing is what makes b die to die for.

...what B-Die is rated for 3000MHz? 3200MHz/CL14 is what you should be looking for, for actual B-Die memory.

What the fuck is up with companies trying to sell modules that can't hit that pre-manual OC as "B-Die"?

Considering upgrading from my 970, not willing to go above $500 though. How much of an advantage does the RTX 2070 have over the 1070 Ti?

Like up to 5 FPS at 1440p, so not much.

Vega 64 is probably a better value proposition if you grab the stock Sapphire one. Will trade blows with a 2070 for $400 and comes with some nice games.

I think its more of a marketing thing, they sell a 3200 kit with the same chips but its way more expensive

>That's essentially not on sale.
Socialist tax here, but thanks for the suggestion. Didn't even know crucial had their own shop available here.
Thanks!

Do you know if Toshiba's N-series drives are good by the way? I only get inadequate data sheets and shody marketing articles up on my googling today.

Looking pretty sweet user, what fans are those on top?

Attached: 6968.jpg (863x690, 104K)

is nvme raid 0 pretty fast?

Thanks, I found a 1070 Ti on a pretty good discount (around $425) so I went with that, here's hoping it'll last me until I do a rebuild (I didn't go AMD because the >drivers meme happened to me IRL).

ok Jow Forums im about to have a stroke, ive been looking for a cheap (cheap meaning

Corsair AF120 quiet edition fans

Why does minecraft make my rx580’s coil scream but furmark with all the anti aliasing maxed doesn’t?

Buildzoid did a video on "B-Die" 2400MHz memory. Spoiler alert: it wasn't actually B-Die.

Actual B-Die will be able to manage 3200MHz/CL14 speeds+latency no sweat. Do not buy any modules below that rated performance and go expecting B-Die OC performance, whether or not they're marketed as "B-Die" modules.

You could've gotten a 1070 ti cheaper browsing r/buildapcsales. Yeah, yeah - I know. >reddit. But it's a good tool for keeping track of nice hardware discounts. I've seen a few 1070 ti's for around $350-360 lately.

high fps = coil whine

R8 my pc so far, still waiting on the 2700x. Thanks user from last thread for helping me make a decision.

Makes sense, i was getting over 1000fps

cant rate it very high as you’re only using one channel, your performance may suffer 10-20%

>pic related

Thinking about getting another stick, depends on if my pc ever utilizes all the ram. I use music software and phptoshopping, usually only sits around 4gb being used on Ubuntu with a lot of stuff going on.

>finally finish build after slowly accumulating parts over a year
>pc doesn't post, fans don't spin, power led doesn't even turn on
>only lights working are motherboard leds and gpu
>cpu might be dead, too broke to buy another since no warranty
fuck this gay earth

Attached: 1538889828886.png (473x409, 135K)

the fans should still spin even with no cpu installed. sounds like a dead motherboard

Well, it's not dead, some features probably weren't working properly. The debug LED was indicating that the CPU might've failed though. Nonetheless, I don't have a warranty for the motherboard, either, so fuck me

Attached: 1538521818070.jpg (250x249, 10K)

I'm planning to build pic related soon, any outstanding issues with those parts? I already have an RX 580 for it.

Excuse the retarded language, and the prices are, for simplicity's sake, just USD * 4.

Whats the best 2560 x 1440 screen size?

Is it 27' the golden ratio?

>looking for old android phone
>discover 256GB SSD in drawer
>it's from old laptop and I forgot about it for 3 years
>just wiped and reformatted it

Pic related is my current build, using the SSD for OS+programs and the HDD for everything else. What do with this SSD I recovered? Install gentoo on it for some type of dual boot?

Attached: build.png (1173x758, 71K)

be careful with that ram kurwa, it didnt work with my 2600 on msi x470 m7

what about it didn't work? I have the same and it works as expected on my 2600x/vi6

Y dude check which ram works with it my only works til 2930 mhz and not 3200mhz

It's my current build. XMP has it running at 3200mhz just fine

it wouldnt boot with it at all, works fine on an 8700k

trying to decide between a 2070 and vega64 de.pcpartpicker.com/list/rP32LJ - don't want to pay more than 600 euro

Not really PCB, but kind of PCB

Anybody have any experience with pic? I'm looking for a good desk mount and don't get the difference between it and the Amazon basics one besides an extra like 75 bucks.

I want a small windows machine to run old/low requirement game servers on (doom, halo CE, Day of Defeat, etc). What would be a good processor/overall setup for this task?

Can a 580 run Total War games well

Yes

Freesync monitor = vega 64(sapphire)
G-sync monitor = 2070
No sync monitor = what is wrong with you?

This, also add at LEAST $100 to a build for an equivalent G-sync monitor to a FreeSync alternative.

If you're looking at a RTX 2070+G-sync, you're almost always gonna be saving around $200+ if you grab a Vega+FreeSync instead, for similar performance.

total war games are cpu dependent

How does one add a custom part manually? The text implies the option exists but I can't find it anywhere. I made an account and am logged into the site.

BOOGER HOOK OFF THE BANG SWITCH!!!

Check if any of the pins are fucked

Check if any of the pins are fucked

I bought a 1070Ti but now I think it's kind of overkill and am thinking of returning it and getting a 580 instead to save 200 dollars, but I figure I could always sell the 1070Ti down the line for more than the 580, especially since it's EVGA with the transferable warranty

I checked before, all the pins on the CPU (Ryzen 1600) are fine

So is all Intel doing now is bumping their stock clocks to insane speeds out of the box? Seems even with soldered HIS in the new chips, they're still running nuclear. And what happened with Intel and all the hardware based security shenanigans? Is that still a thing or did their patch actually do anything?

I'm out of the loop and own an R7-1700X and was considering making this my encode box to make a dedicated ITX gaming PC.

Current build below:

i5 3570k
Nvidia 970
8gb DDR3 1333
1TB SSD
750W PSU

Should I upgrade my CPU to a 3770K and get a much better graphics card or is that polishing a turd? Id prefer to save as much money as I can but am looking for more threads.

Attached: 30yearoldavacado.jpg (640x629, 55K)

How outdated is this computer? I want to get better performance when I game (60+ fps 1080p on max settings for modern games) but I'm not sure where to start and which parts to look for first.

Attached: pc speccy.jpg (863x672, 95K)

Buy a GTX 1080 and set your RAM to XMP mode in BIOS.

Get an SSD (minimum 500GB) and see if you can find another 8GB kit of ram to match your current RAM. If your motherboard can, OC that i5. If your cooler is shit, get a better one.

The 970 is a good card provided you're OK with the 3.5GB RAM debacle. But depending on your budget you can get all the stuff I mentioned and an RX 580.

Quad core can still cut it depending on the game. Newer games have actually shown to prefer more cores. Minimum of 6. Even with the 6 cores in the i5-8400 and 8600k/9600k, some games show 100% CPU usage which means frame drops.

Depending on the game, the R9 390 is more than capable but a newer card wouldn't hurt. No higher than a 1070Ti. Or a 1080 (non Ti) I'd the Gap is less than $50

I have a 1TB SSD I picked up last month and I have the CPU overclocked right now with a new coolerr on the CPU.

What about the RAM should I change? The speed of the ram or the amount? I can accommodate up to 32gb of DDR3 but I was told anything over 8 is overkill.

Thank you guys, I'll look into the 1070Ti and 1080

If you don't already have G-sync, and might want to grab an adaptive sync monitor in the future, you might want to consider a Vega 56/64.

>GTX 580 just died
Fuck.
Navi can't come soon enough. $1k+ for a top of the line GPU is just too much when it was only sub $700 for it a few years ago. And this is without taking into account of how little of an increase in performance the RTX series is over GTX

Whats a good large capacity (4TB+) HDD that isn't slow as shit and won't eat itself in a year? I need more space for music and animu.
Look at Microcenter open box and b-stock deals. I got an open box 1080 Ti for $650 when they were $1000+ during the Ethereum craze last year.

The nearest Microcenter is 80+ miles away, user

Is the Dell s2716dg a good monitor? It regularly goes on sale for 350 or 300 and it has Gsync, which is a better deal than most comparable Freesync monitors.

>TN

Are 1440p 144hz IPS monitors even affordable yet

>IPS

I purchased mine for over $600. They're affordable if you're not poor ;)

I just bought an Asus PCE-AC88 wireless adapter. I ain't finna have any wifi issues.

Any good meme repurposed server CPUs these days?

Attached: ceramic-frog-statue-garden-thinker-19.jpg (375x405, 167K)

>b die
>3000Mhz
Correct me if I'm wrong anons, but I'm pretty sure b die is always 3200Mhz CAS14 and maybe 3466Mhz and CAS15 or something like that, but I don't think it's ever slower.

Attached: 1545695614217.jpg (400x400, 22K)

about to take the plunge and get one from PC specialist

is a i78k with z390 16gb ram and 6gb gtx 1060 worth it for ~£1500 got an ssd in there too

Would this pcpartpicker.com/list/WxVYBb work well as a nas and rtorrent box my budget is around $400

Cheapest desktop I can make/buy just to learn to program on. Preferably 8gb of ram so it ha no problems

Literally a refurbished 2nd or 3rd gen i5 with an SSD and 8gb of ram will do

Post RAM

2070 is 25% more powerful than the 1070Ti at 1440p. (You aren't seriously considering getting the 2070 for 1080p, are you?)

False. What the fuck is your problem, marketer?

Attached: relative-performance_2560-1440.png (500x1050, 56K)

>slowly accumulating parts over a year
Dumb, could have gotten way cheaper parts

>pc doesn't post
Confirmed for dumb

>cpu might be dead
It's not. Continue troubleshooting

Homework: go look up what the golden ratio is. To answer your question, yes, 27" is decent for 1440p. If you want the pixels to be almost invisible, you have to go smaller than 27" but 27" is probably the most popular size

Depends on whether you're trying for 144FPS. In that case I'd say new platform, but it really depends on the games you play and your monitor. If you're at 1080p you don't really need a much better graphics card for most games

Needs an i7 7700 and a 1070 or 1070Ti

16GB total is the right amount. Just get another stick or kit of the same RAM you have

Top of the line components are for overpaying retards, unless of course you have a bunch of other overpriced hardware already

No

pcpartpicker.com/user/pcbg/saved/TLLccf

Is it wise to but a 8700k for a new build now?
I have a 2080ti already but im torn between buying the latest intel cpu vs waiting indefinitely for whatever intel does next with their cpus, like process shrink -I haven't kept up with any of that development btw.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good intel processor for gaming and editing.
Any suggestions?
I have a 1151 Motherboard

I need a suggestion for a good microatx case that won't take up too much room or be overpriced

Wait for the new ryzen cpus, they're going to wipe Intel in the floor

minitower i mean

Personally I'd wait to buy until after CES. 10nm is in the works but probably won't be here until the fall at the earliest.

>they're going to wipe Intel
>in the floor
You drunk, retard?

Corsair 200R

so what of ddr5 and any other components that will require essentially a new mb and every thing else? I'm about to drop $2000 on a new build right now and these projections on new stuff in the works, whether confirmed or otherwise, has me thinking my planned build will be obsolete within a year...

>my planned build will be obsolete within a year
That's not how high end builds work. If you get any new even mid range CPU now you're not going to be upgrading until a couple of years after the PS5 comes out

Hey /pcbg/!
Can you give me a feedback on this attempt of a build?
pcpartpicker.com/list/zTccr6
I know that I need a ton of things, though I thought you guys could recommend me some parts.

Can pick up a second RX 470 for $100 for this price is crossfire worth it?

give more details like what you will be using it for first

maybe "obsolete" isnt the right word. I have no doubt it'll still perform well, as it should, but in the near future it'll be technically be "outdated". just doesnt sit right.

Should I get a 2400g or a 2600 and some shit graphics card if I don't play any videogaymes?

Running a few games decently (LoL,OW,AoE2) and some video/music editing.

Is it worth returning my 1070Ti FTW for a 1070Ti FTW2 for the same price

>or this price is crossfire worth it?
No

Those Pentiums are overpriced now. The Athlon 200GE is way better for what you're looking at. There are builds that contain the 200GE in the OP pcpartpicker link

unless thermals are an issue no

pcpartpicker.com/list/8b7snH

hello?

Obviously not

Why? I thought the extra cores and threads would be valuable, since it's barely any more money if I get some random cheap graphics card.

No reason to buy what you don't need
If all you want to do is browse 4chinz and stream the latest shitty superhero movie, you'd be better off getting a 200GE (which already has integrated graphics) and a passive cooler, which will be completely silent with the right PSU. No fans = no reason to replace for the foreseeable future

This shit is probably asked a lot, but I might be upgrading my PC soon even though I really don't need to, but holy shit 1080ti's are expensive. Especially the Gigabyte Aorus ones I was looking at. Should I just go for a 2080 at this point? I'm too scared to get a used 1080ti, and I'm only really upgrading so I can sell my mobo, cpu, and gpu to a family member for his first build. Let me know if I need to move this question elsewhere.
