convenience, user friendliness, emojis, the normie-preferred amount of customizability and control (read:just barely enough for basic functions), pretty user interface, gaymer approved, etc. it is garbage that nobody will accept is garbage, as was slack and as was Skype. at this point I would rather use MSN messenger or AIM than the garbage that gets shovelled down people's throats today.

It's the people that make communities bad. Discord has a particularly low entry requirement, IQ wise, so it just has more people.
