Devuan is pretty good.

Just get Arch if you want the best distribution.

I haven't used it but I considered moving to it cuz I like Debian but don't want systemd. Does anyone know if it's based on stable, sid, or testing?

OP will have to deal with more breakage then.

based

There's repos for all of those, just chexk out the website to see what they're called in Devuan

There’s three flavors just like Debian. Stable, testing, and unstable.

Still contains systemd parts. There was a thread about it.

It's the Donald Trump of Linux distros

so its the best distribution

does it use debian repo?

I went on buster(beowulf) because i wanted to get the support for my gpu.
But wine for some reason installing the wine package (from the wine repo) required me to delete everything.

if gentoo "breaks" for you, don't even bother with that garbage
just go back to windows

All distros are the same. Use timeshift for flawless backups and rollbacks if you tend to break things. You can literally rm -rf /* and restore from a timeshift snapshot in no time.

So it's like king Midas but negative?

Just werks™

the thing with gentoo is that things aren't necessarily "breaking" all the time-- once things are working they will probably continue working well if you don't bother them. the common issue is that initially setting things up can involve a lot more complexity and troubleshooting than with other distros.

Mxlinux is better. Systemd free , with better packages and kernel outside of the box than debain comes with.

stop being an edgelord and just Ubuntu Mate, holy fuck.

i meant to write - less

Devuan is pretty based.
Been with it for a couple months now, and the shit boots way faster and is without the systemd faggotry.
If anyone here is wondering why systemd blows:

My only gripe is with wicd, the stock network manager. I can't seem to get it to connect to any unsecured wifi networks.
>ram use is higher from other workspaces, relax

Old ass packages. It's alright, though.

so its fucking retarded?

what is this supposed to mean

If things breaks too frequently for you on Gentoo, then either you're using too much USE flags or experimental KEYWORDS. Revise those, or admit Gentoo isn't for you (which is fine).

Ubuntu
Debian
Fedora
Arch
Slackware
Gentoo

Anything else is just noise.

Pretty true ngl

It's just debian with systemd patched out. It's a nice OS, but some things like plymouth don't work.

That's the common naive view, but the real challenge with Gentoo is resolving conflicts while installing new things on an established system. And it's not even hard if you understand what emerge is telling you, it's just a hassle.

A new Gentoo user is generally going to realize within a couple days that weird flags only cause problems.

Devuan is good but can't you just gid gud at gentoo?

>wicd
Wicd is gay. I just use wpa_supplicant + dhcpcd for everything.

wicd is intel made you fucking

>wicd is intel made
What? It's just this.
launchpad.net/wicd

Do you think wicd stands for wireless intel cunt dunce?

I'll look into it.

I'm a fucking what? Don't leave us all hanging like that.

It may be noise, but Devuan is getting pretty fucking loud
