Total Commander

wasnt Thunar objectively better?

ranger for previews

>choose a file manager that can preview only one file at a time
>use it for previews
I see you too enjoy being retarded

it beats opening the file, and supports nearly anything cause it just runs a thumbnailer on it, if there was something better cli I'd use it, I have icon view mode on the file selector dialog anyway

pcmanfm-qt
>can drag links to it from a browser to save files
>remembers view settings for different directories so image folders can have thumbnails and other folders can have list views without switching constantly
>can hide everything but the tab bar maximizing screen use and removing useless GUI buttons when the key shortcuts are available
Perfect for shitposting.

ranger
>easily scriptable
>can do complex and unusual things like pasting hardlinks to copied files with three keypresses
>terminal file previews
>can utilize external tools, like how vim is used to do mass renames on files
Perfect for actual file management

I even bought a license for it

Excuse me but why would you save a thumbnail

What if there's an image or other file you need to find based on it's thumbnail, and you don't quite know where it is?

>sticking to an inferior solution just because it's cli
You're disgusting.

>>can drag links to it from a browser to save files
This is something I've been looking for actually.
Gonna check it out.

Obviously :^)
But hey at least it's cli.

thunar lags when you select a lot of files

The chad file manager

How do you preview text files all at once in file manager, retard?

>>sticking to an inferior solution just because it's cli
I try to keep most things cli for comfort, its a hobby
basically this, you'd be surprised how little you need to look up a file that you dont open through the file selector dialog. if I want to edit something it'll have a file selector dialog on 'open file' in the editor, if I want to upload something it'll have a file selector dialog as well, if I want to play some video most of those are organized in sensible folders so I can just go there with ranger, check the preview, and play it. it also saves me the effort of looking for a decent icon theme as I rarely see any gtk stuff outside of those file selector dialogs

We're obviously talking about visual media previews retard.

theres a point there though, working with text files is far more uniform in cli file managers than it is with most full on gui ones.

depends on your needs I guess, thunar is single pane

ghost commander.

It's something that's supposed to work on all file managers. I don't get why I'd need to use a half-functional rewrite of a file manager to have it work, when all that's needed is for the application to handle links properly.
It used to not work for pcmanfm-qt either, until a couple days ago. I hadn't changed anything.
Truly linux GUI is something you only tolerate.

your shell

Tried pcmanfm-gtk3.
Dragging and dropping images freezes everything, dafuq
Or more like, it makes me unable to do anything except move the mouse. The firefox window kept refreshing.
Works on thunar.
