Basically I'm a pretty competitive in FPS games and obviously went in the market looking for a 27" 1080p 144hz screen after the torture of 60hz IPS with 6ms widescreen. I came upon an Acer XG270HU 144hz 1440p 27" monitor for $150.
The thing is I only have a 1070 Strix and I'm not sure if i'll be getting any 144hz with my graphics card in Rainbow six, GTA V, Pubg etc. Now the main point of this post is I'm totally fine downscaling the 1440p to 1080p in compeitive-like games but, would it give me the real 1080p experience or would it be a pixelated shit show?
Why not just get a 1080 144hz
Because for this price I can have both 1080p(downscaled) and native 1440p which sometimes I'd like to play with on singleplay scenary type games.
just get it and return if you don't like it fucking idiot

>implying that 144hz makes a difference in competitive FPS totally not game sense, netcode and teamwork

It does at games like csgo. But when you already have achieved a certain level. I was playing with a Naga 2014 and my aim and precision suffered. Upgraded to a deathadder and instantly got 2 tiers higher. Now i upgraded to a 144hz monitor and got just shy of max rank. My shitty connection is the last major issue i have.

Not technology.

I've got that monitor and I'm v happy with it. 144hz is pretty great in faster/esports games. I've got a 580 tho so freesync is a godsend, not sure what it would be like with a 1070
