It's not just a stand, it's an external DAC (& headphone amp, maybe) with support for virtual surround over stereo headphones. It's not so bad for $60 if you want virtual surround for games but cannot do it in software for some reason, provided whatever algorithm it uses works well, which it could since very convincing implementations do exist.
