Why can I see Artist - Title in the status bar for radio streams like stream.r-a-d.io/main.mp3 in VLC 2.2.2 but VLC 3 doesn't show shit?
I tried downloading ffmpeg and using av1 compression, I get 0.3 fps compression rate, not 3000 times slower like article claims but it looks like it'll take 100x longer than source file to complete compression, so yeah that seems rather slow.

Assuming Windows: 1. Download MakeMKV 2. Go to the MakeMKV forum and get the free registration key 3. Install and "register" MakeMKV 4. Copy/paste C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\libmmbd64.dll to the directory containing vlc.exe or mpv.exe twice 5. Rename one copy to libaacs.dll and the other copy to libbdplus,dll 6. Blurays now literally just work
Alternatively, just use MakeMKV to rip the disc to an .mkv.

Yeah, the article is almost a year old. That's a very long time for a new codec. Wait until they established multi-threading beyond the tile-based one. You might also want to follow the progress of rav1e. They are the ones mainly focusing on encoding speed improvements.

I've been ripping blurays since the start but I can't get this simple thing to work.
Tried it just now with Children of Men: Holy shit. You're a genius. I have never in my life played a bluray disk directly. I'll probably keep ripping them though.
