despite all my hatred to gnome, I found most of this hatred is silly and based on literally nothing. Gnome keeps to be deaf to people and push their shit to become "mac-tier" software, but so far we have only one decent alternative to it and this is huge, clunky mess of Qt called KDE, which btw wasted something something about 100 000$ on making yet another office suite instead of improving their DE itself. What means they are just as retarded as the Gnome team are. May be a bit smarter, whatever.
So far I need to open "GuhNOME software" only to click on few buttons and keep it closed for hours, and it copes with this kind of job perfectly. Also linux users anyway end up using parts of Gnome software, be it GTK filepicker or NetworkManager. So yeah, I'm okay, thanks for caring.

You should consider running your PIA VPN from your router. I do it this way, I have it set up for an alias group to be routed through the VPN gateway and a rule to deny internet access if that gateway is down.

I put my p2p machine in this group and as such all traffic goes via the VPN. I used to run the desktop client but found that after a day or two it would somehow completely drop my network shares from the machine while also show "connected" but was unable to access the internet, almost like the session was stale.

This way I can leave my machine running for weeks, I only sometimes have an issue if I log into a desktop client (hardly ever). This is fixed by restarted the open-vpn service on my router (15seconds).
