Sup Jow Forums, I'm Building an new PC, But know nothing about Technology.

please humour my ignorance.

yes

>paying for Windows

No but seriously got to allkeyshop.com and buy a Windows license through there if you really want a valid license (and get pro atleast jesus christ)

do yourself a favor and get an 2700X instead of the 8700K and use the stock cooler instead of that AIO liquid cooler

at $370 the 8700k is dumb, might as well get the 9700k which has more cache and 2 more real cores.

Hyper threading is garbage for gaming anyway.

At $300 the 8700k made sense against the $400 9700k.

but with only $30-50 difference, the 9700k is an easy buy.

Avoid watercooling its shit and loud, get a NH-D15
Get a Z370 motherboard.
Get a better GPU.
spend less in the case.
Shitty and overpowered PSU, get a EVGA 650 G2 or G3.
Remove windows, pirate the enterprise version (LTSB or LTSC).

Buy a Ryzen 2600 with a MSI B450 Tomahawk, spend the rest of the money in a better GPU.

>favor
he said it's for HTC vive, meaning gaming performance.

He 100% wants to stick with intel and you're a shill for suggesting anything else.

Also

>Avoid watercooling its shit and loud, get a NH-D15
What did you mean by this?

Not only is the H100i Pro within 2 degrees of the NH-D15 in performance, but it's quieter as well.

At idle, not under load.

How reliable are these sites? I need to upgrade from 7 for a new rig but also considered these sites to be 'risky'. Noone I know has tried to use one so I can't get anecdotes from anyone aside from anonymous boards that are frequented by chinese scammers and indians.

And there is the fact that the NH-D15 is $75-80 and the H100i $100-120.

Yes, at extreme fan mode it can hit 47dBa according to the other site, but they specifically tested it at balanced and it beat the NH-D15 at balanced mode for cooling performance under load, and noise under load.

50% fan speeds then which should be the expected fan speeds under load.

I guess Guru3D, a tech review site that's been running since 1999, can't do basic testing.

Sure glad you proved me and them wrong.

Looks like it since multiple other sites get similar results but casually they don't?

If you think it's an isolated case you're a moron, it's just hard to find other reviews that also include the NH-D15 specifically.

If you want to compare to similar coolers, the H100i pro is still a solid cooler.

My friend bought a 6€ windows key on ebay and it worked. Just pick a somewhat reliable retailer.

Nah the 2700x is cheaper, meaning he could go for a better gpu (which I would strongly advise for).

Use a 2700x instead of a 8700k
The psu is overkill, any 60$ psu with 350w is enough, better go for 450 though.
32gb of ram is too much for gayming. Spent it on the gpu.
You probably don't need an DVD drive too.
You also might cut back on the price, a 65$ case does the job just fine. Also get a z370 if paired with a 8700k. If you go for the 2700x take at least a b450. Forget the water cooling for the amd processor(stock cooler is fine). Buy windows for 10 bucks.
You can save roughly 550$ with this. So you could upgrade the graphics card to a 750$ rtx 2080.
For gayming the gpu is the most important part (as long as nothing else bottlenecks of course).

then i'd probably recommend 8700k or 9600k.

The single core performance of intel is simply undeniably better for gaming.

Well the 9600k then, the 8700 is to expensive.
A 30$ 212 evo should be enough to cool that (and maybe enable a mild overclock if needed, 4.8 should be completely possible).

OP Here, How is this?
I still need a motherboard and a power supply.

Also what kind of Performance can I expect from the Vive with this Build? I would like to keep the
total Budget under $2,500.

you should be able to get the same size RAM in 2666mhz or 3000mhz for the same price.

You can expect about the best performance currently possible without spending 2x as much.

The RTX 2080Ti is a 10-15% performance improvement, but at a 30-40% price premium.

Why is every Corsair case so damn expensive? What do they have over Fractal, Be Quiet etc?

OP again, How about this?

>pcpartpicker.com/list/hHm7Bb

You need a 650W PSU.
Other than that, perfect.

Why not get a ryzen 2700X processor with good RAM instead? It would only need a $20 hyper 212 evo to cool. Despite lower clocks on the 2700X it matches the i7-8700K in 90% of gaymes if you use good ram.

Attached: Comb10102018092249.jpg (641x2895, 423K)

AND it means you can use a 500W PSU due to significantly lower power consumption.

212 EVO doesnt work with AM4, but there is the freezer 33.

Also get a vega 56 and UV it, no need for spending twice for nvidia trash when you won't even get twice the performance of a vega 56.

Attached: 1440p.png (1320x2887, 144K)

You can order an am4 bracket mount for like $5.

Or buy a product that performs the same for less.
