why x220 king of thinkpads has so shitty default touchpad? It is possible to replace it?
Why x220 king of thinkpads has so shitty default touchpad? It is possible to replace it?
x230 is actually even worse
The trackpoint is there for a reason.
>trackpad
The trackpoint is like half the point of using a thinkpad. Why would you want to use the trackpad when you have one of those?
$ xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Enabled" 0
Thats righy, they should l've removed this thing.
They started to suck less from the T440 generation on.
>inb4 t440 had a shitty clickpad
at least it had more surface area than a fucking thumbnail.
you need rpi to libreboot that out
Touchpads are by definition absolute trash, at best they can be livable(like in CuckBooks).
Don't pay attention to these
user.
I'm using a thinkpad t420 and i rarely use the trackpoint (although i do use the upper set of touchpad buttons regularly).
My touchpad is very nice, but i'm sorry you're having such a trash experience with yours.
I am now used to mine and it doesn't inconvenience me anymore
>thinkpad
>touchpad
Stop being a nigger the trackpoint is leagues better.
fuck touchpads
>not T440p
>I rarely use the trackpoint
>king of the botpads
you bought it wrong
Clitmouse user reporting in.
So are the touchpads any better on the new models? I was considering getting a P1 or X1 Extreme, but a crappy touchpad is a major turnoff. They also seem to have the unnecessary physical buttons there taking space.
learn to use the trackpoint, it's one of the hallmark designs of the thinkpad. the trackpad is just there to please the consumer market but it's very much a negligible part of the _220+ series
duh, the trackpad of the t420 is nearly twice the vertical length of the x220's trackpad.
i use x220 + coreboot
>core2duo
No, thanks :p
the first thing i do when installing a new os is disabling touchpad
Did you buy a used one? Are you assuming it works properly? When I bought my x220 I had to replace the touchpad because it was defective, the part is cheap enough that you can buy it brand new for not that much.
sensivity to slow and
unpleasant touch, roughness
Use the trackpoint. Anyway the touchpad pre-x3x is perfect, much better than anything made today.
Funny I found this thread, I've been tinkering with my X230 for a week now.
I only use the trackpoint or an external mouse occasionally. So I was thinking: Are there any CAD files available for the wrist wrest or other shell parts of The X220/X230? If so, one could edit them to fill the space of the useless trackpad and 3D Print them.
>tfw when actually considering modeling the wrist rest myself
>roughness
You can make it smooth by removing the sticker or putting another type.
The current state of thinkpad shill cope on full display.
trackpoints are pretty useless on anything over 13 inch when you use them in your lap
hello fag
>Angrily responds to maintain his delusion.
C O P E
Just got an x220 for Christmas. Love the thing so far, but yeah the trackpad is hot fucking garbage.
>but yeah the trackpad is hot fucking garbage.
this is fuckin sad, any ideas?
>doesn't have the same point of view
>you must be like this
everytime
That's exactly his point. Easy to see as a bystander and not a autistic fanboy.
Could be worse. I'm still using the T440p default touchpad
>learn to use the trackpoint,
If you seriously have to "learn" how to use a pointing device, it's a fucking failure.
you're the fucking failure, brainlet.
Thinkpads are a meme and one of the primary input devices is complete garbage lmao
>but I can use the clit
Whatever you say boomer
This is why I buy Kaby Lake R machines with 4 physical cores and a factory-disabled ME. Enjoy your shit-tier performance.
Have x230 and trackpad really is subpar. It's worse than on fully rugged panasonic toughbooks which have resistive touchpads to use with gloves and that tells something.
My favorite is panasonic circular thing, hard to get back to x230 after using one of those on let's note series. In combination with touchscreen it beats the shit out of thinkpad trackpad+trackpoint.
>touchpad
No such thing needed when you're on EXWM
Just give up and buy a MacBook then.
The clit has one major advantage: When you have your laptop on your lap / knees it is much easier to reach and stabilizes the device better then bending your fingers to use the touchpad and potentially have the laptop slide from your lap / knees.
Why not just disable in the bios?
for me, the advantadge is that i don't have to take my hands off the home row to move the mouse.
my right index finger moves the mouse and my thumbs operate the buttons.
huh, I've forgotten about that, thanks
last time i visited bios was when i bought it and swapped fn with ctrl
of course you can replace it, i think everybody in your position has already done that, just google "buy laptops" any other laptop
