AMD is crushing it at the mid-range desktop CPU and GPU spaces. Ryzen 5 2600 is the new phenom x4 955. It's a better day to day performer, will scale better into the future, and has equivalent performance to i5-8400 at 60hz.

fx8350 was pretty shit compared to the phenom x4 955. The i5-2500k was released earlier and scaled better into the future.
For awhile AMD got wasted and kept releasing 8 core CPUs when most apps were utilizing maybe 3 cores.
