Nice PC OP, here's one of my comps. Let me get my other one up and running.

Fuckn nice, user.

Second comp

Thanks user. I actually bought this stuff recently, spent wayyy too much money. I used to have this exact mobo and CPU years ago that i had since launch, and i fried it in a watercooling accident. I guess i just wanted to relive this platform. It's still the GOAT if you ask me. Looking to put an 8 core xeon in it eventually.

Attached: ryzenpc.png (663x527, 35K)

The fuck happened to my memory. BRB rebooting and posting CPUz screenshot.

Thanks user. I've always admired X79, how is it holding up?

It's insane how well X79 still competes with ryzen.

Here's the correct memory timings and clocks. Also i used to have Vishera myself back in the day. I kinda miss it honestly, it wasn't the fastest but it was fast enough for me and it was very affordable. Could also take a fucking beating lol

I love x79 man. It was my first intel platform ever, i bought it after i retired my 990FX stuff. If i didn't fry it like i specified in another post i probably wouldn't have upgraded to x99, and then ryzen, would be rocking it still. And now i am, once again since i bought a store model RIVF and a used 3930k. Still amazing stuff.

Attached: mem.png (419x409, 13K)

I've been wanting to do a fair comparison between the two platforms using my 1080ti. Compare a couple of games or something, both platforms running ideal clocks. So aggressive PE on the Ryzen and 4.5-4.8ghz on the 3930k, which is quite doable honestly. Having used the Ti in both systems for a while i haven't noticed any differences yet, only that certain games like CSGO really likes intel for some reason, despite the fact that a 2700x at 4.2-4.3GHz can easily compete with a 4.6ghz 3930k in other things.

bumping good thread

new gpu

pretty happy with it for now

(for some reason the 2070 is shown as 4gb)

Attached: Capture.png (660x525, 41K)

Cant wait for ram to drop in price even more to get 32gb in this overkill system

Attached: Speccy64_2018-09-08_21-38-39.png (731x579, 66K)

I'd suggest getting a used 4770K but motherfuckers are charging 200 bucks for a used one on eBay.

eh, the only demanding workload i do with it is gaming. even the ram was a free upgrade (originally had 8gb).

i looked at newer CPUs but ryzen is pretty disappointing for such things

Attached: stillnotupgrading.jpg (1024x971, 275K)

For the first time in my life, I've actually built myself a nice computer.
And what was the first thing I did on it? Get an old version of Winamp installed just the way I like it.
>idling at 21 degrees
Glorious

Attached: speccy.png (695x554, 38K)

whyd you get an non-overclockable cpu with a z390 mobo

Ooh, good catch. It's an 9700k, I just think speccy isn't displaying it correctly.

But you're right, I haven't overclocked it yet. AFAIK, the locked version of the 9700 hasn't even been released yet.

hehe, I ain't worried about nothing.

Been a while

Attached: Untitled.png (660x525, 37K)

idk why speccy gets all of the specs wrong. they don't detect ddr4 RAM still, and won't even detect your CPU properly

speaking of which, how is your 9700K and what did you upgrade from?

Getting a 1440p/144hz monitor soon, can't wait. Yeah I know I need to get a better CPU.

Attached: speccy.png (750x594, 44K)

I need more drives.

Attached: speccy.png (487x408, 20K)

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with HWMonitor and CPU-Z in the future.
The difference is pretty drastic to me, but I may be an extreme case, because I upgraded from an i5-750, which has now moved to the living room to handle YouTube and music duties.

Upgrading to 1440p is such a great feeling. It's one of those things where you never realize how much you appreciate the extra screen real estate until you're using a 1080p monitor and suddenly feel cramped. You'll be happy.

What are the odds the 3700x will be a worthwhile upgrade next year?

Attached: speccy_2.png (660x532, 37K)

From that i5 the current Ryzens are a worthwhile upgrade, but i would still wait. Or if you're a poorfag you could try to get a ryzen 5 2600, they're stupidly cheap these days.

Intel still being on 14nm makes any chip he could upgrade to pointless. I remember intel switching to 14nm and DDR4 being hype af because 10nm and eventually 7nm would come, but they stagnated it.

>2666 cl16 single channel
What in the FUCK are you doing???????????

Attached: disgusted diego.png (321x321, 6K)

It's my friend's fault. He said it would not make difference and I believed him.

I'll try to find someone to buy it so I can get a dual channel

kill your friend and take his memory

Attached: ecd67000.jpg (1200x675, 93K)

Is it really just one stick? What the fuck?

You could probably get even better 2x8gb kit than 2666 for the same money you spent on that stick

Speccy can read Zen temps properly. When are they going to update this shit?

Attached: Screenshot 2018-12-29 18.30.39.png (708x573, 42K)

>Upgraded his CPU MB and RAM because ryzen but kept his R9 200 series because GPUs are fucking expensive
Based moneysaver

>3200 cl16
Why are y'all such shitters at tuning memory?

Thats 3400

Oh wait it's an R7 200 series but GPUs were still expensive when ryzen came out

Attached: 1533047241596.jpg (660x525, 46K)

How far behind the times is my PC? I haven't even looked at any new hardware coming out since I built it, though I'm tempted to put in a higher quality motherboard.

Attached: speccy.jpg (762x545, 171K)

I had a GTX 970 but i just sold it because i don't want any Nvidia/Intel in my system.I can now get a RX 589 8gb for what i sold my GTX 970 for. Going to wait for Navi and get a 1440p 144hz.
That is samsung D die @ 3400mhz

Why don't you like Nvidia and Intel?

Honestly, it's not that bad so long as you're not worried about gaymen above 1080p. Your machine is comparable to current 1080p mid range ($1600-$1800) gaymen laptops, so it'll handle almost any modern game on ultra at 1080p like a champ. 1440p... That's a whole different story.

Almost 3 years old now.
What would you upgrade first?

Attached: oof.png (660x525, 36K)

CPU

This, because based AMD made 4c8t poverty tier now, a 6700K is needed to keep Z170 relevant.

If you put a 1045t, 1055t, or better 6 core phenom in there, it's pretty relevant.

haven't posted in these threads in a while
waiting for Zen 2 as Ivy is still fine for most things

the question is whether VRMs on his board can handle monsters such as 6c thubans

Attached: 1545821442423.png (1266x592, 201K)

I don't know if you can handle the black edition 6 core 125w chips, but you can definetly run a 1045t 2.7GHz and the 1055T 2.8GHz, the 95w tdp on the both of those is not a problem even on a 4 phase VRM.

apparently the board supports up to 140W TDP cpus, so even an OCd thuban shouldn't be a problem.

Sick, I noticed even though it was a 770 board it had PRO in the name which typically denotes a better vrm.

Going to switch from a custom water loop on the CPU to a Noctua ND-15. Guess I'll have to look into why the memory is not running at 1500 when im finished.

Attached: bbllrrr.png (733x615, 40K)

Thank you guys, gonna search for options to upgrade it!

Zen 2 hype

OC'd CPU to 4.4GHz, quad-channel memory, does anyone think I should update anything anytime soon?

Change nothing, you've got a nice 16:10 screen, a high end card and X79.

Attached: cee0hf12JV3A.jpg (1280x960, 659K)

What are you talking about? He's got a GTX 1080, it handles most games on 60fps at 1440p. His CPU is not half bad, though outdated thanks to more cores scaling. But at highers resolution, CPU matters less and less since there's less frames to push.

Shit my dude, that's like 2012 rig of the year.

HAHA I build this fucker in 2012!

That's crazy money user, and I seriously meant that previous post in a good way, big fan of ultimate builds of a certain vintage.

also keep in mind even though it says I have 2 GTX 690's, I actually only have 1. Its just registering 2 chips on 1 card.

its crazy to think I paid close to 4k for this thing. But it's ran beautifully so far.

I'll bet, I built an FX8350 and 7970 meme machine for cheap and that thing runs amazing, Would've gladly by the $1000+ dollars for this back in high school.

Comfy, I just wish 8.1 Pro had access to NFS shares but it was restricted to Enterprise.

Speccy is for out of the loop children who like having a bunch of wrong data; real men use HWiNFO64.
