I just want to say I love you guys, it's been swell

I'm wishing you a great 2019, user

640x480 is a covenant like circumcision

Run. It's not worth getting your dick cut off.

I haven't taken the OLED plunge as the price is just too high to get a panel you know is going to be dead or at least very much reduced from it's original state, in 4-5 years due to the organic nature.

But, 27" 1440p 144hz VA, and 43" 2160p 60hz IPS.

Under $1000 total for both panels, can't be too upset.

I already have enough technolo/g/y for my bare necessities.

So all I need now is a proper desk. And some proper furniture.

Techwise, a mic boom stand, but that's really low priority.
And if I had the money I'd get that high-end NUC, haha.

I don't need anything else, only need to be more productive next year. And stay healthy.

Thank god we made it. Here's to a good 2019!.

Personally, I'm gonna be saving money all year long. That's the goal anyway. Spent to much this past year so I need to put some back in the coffers.

Stuck with 1920x1080 here.
also I'm getting a fumo this year and you can't stop me.

Still 2560x1080 after 3 years.

Honestly my next upgrade would probably be a 2K monitor if those get cheap. I don't want a big ass monitor and I'd rather not spend too much, not to mention I can't play shit at 4k.

Is it worth upgrading to 1080p from 1680x1050?

1366x768
Feels bad man.

only if the display is also better in other regards

I have a pair of 1920x1080 monitors. I really want to get a 2560x1440 one but then I won't be able to keep Xfce's taskbar exactly on one monitor, because the retards only let you set its size as an integer percentage of total width of the whole X screen, instead of as a certain number of pixels. And I can't afford to just get two 2560x1440 monitors.

Internet high five bruh.

Yours is pretty baller too. Amazing how big of a difference 120 lines make.

Considering I just bought my monitor on Cyber Monday, 1920x1080

this. I love my x220

>2019
>still only 1080 lines

Only one criteria in 2019: Did you pay more than or less than $100?

Got a 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor on black friday. Don't think I'll ever go back to a 60Hz screen.

>tfw 1440x900
living in a country where you spend more on transportation than you earn with any job sucks

2560x1600

Also, why don't you post the latest copy of that so you can see how shitty your 1920x1200 really is compared to modern resolutions. (pic related)

>he uses a 90" tv as his monitor

Adjusted for inflation, a 5K LCD monitor today is approximately the same price as a 21" CRT in 2001. What's your excuse?

Attached: monitors.png (184x438, 184K)

The LCD only looks good at one resolution. The CRT looks good at any resolution.

High enough DPI and a LCD will look fine at scaled resolutions. Point is, these people running 1080P into the year of our lord 2019 are missing out. Imagine running the same resolution as mainstream TV... lol

>2048x1536 in 2001
>suddenly everything dumbed down to 1280x720 because of the HD meme

>2019
>1366x768 still fucking everywhere

>Imagine running the same resolution as mainstream TV
Exactly, it's like running 640x480 at the turn of the century.

You do realize 2048x1536 was the on the level of 4K back then and typical monitors maxed out at 1024x768 right?

Typical monitors for mainstream users may have maxed out at 1280x1024, though they ran them at 1024x768 for a better refresh rate or because that was the default. Most people who did anything tech related for work or fun had at least the capability of 1600x1200.

my nigger

This.
Also, some 17 and most decent 19 to 21 inchers were able to run at 1600x1200 at 60Hz or a bit more.
This way you were able to temporarily switch to this rez when you needed it for some better overall view on your layouts and then switch back to a lower resolution to stop straining your eyes and get refresh rates of 85 and more.

Personally I even ran my monitor at 1600x1200@85Hz even though this was quite a bit out of range and not in the monitor specs. The thing held together well though.

Yeah, and everyone today doing tech-related things has at least 1080P if not 2K. It's the absolute poorfags that settle for 768 lines.

>It's the absolute poorfags that settle for 768 lines.
Or Thinkpad enthusiasts.

Currently 720x1280 but if I turn my phone sideways (((HD 720))). Laptop is 1900x or was it 1400x, I forget and I'm too lazy to get up.

1366x768 & 1440x900, although I miss my CRT monitor, it was based

This
>tfw too poor to afford a new monitor

Get rid of my half dozen shitty old thinkpads in favor of one non shitty recent notebook.

1440p. I probably won't get 4K in 2019.

1080p.

2k is essentially just another name for 1080P. Anyone in Jow Forums with one of these resolutions is either a poorfag or ignorant.

1440p

Huawei matebook x pro nigger

lol

It better be a recent thinkpad, faggot

3840x2160 masterrace here. uhd shit so cash.

X220 is 1366x768 so I guess this is the perfect resolution

the best

Lmao at these UHD babies, since I'm still running the same IBM T221 from 10 years ago, 3840x2400

Attached: 1525830910635.gif (500x500, 994K)

x64 doesnt exst though
there is only x86_64 or AMD64

I'd go from 1440p to 2160p only under these conditions:
>hdmi 2.1
>proper hdr and 10bit environment - so not only game/movie gimmicks, but 1024 rgb shades in paint, 10bit desktop wallpaper, UI elements etc
>at least 50% of the Internet I visit finally made for high DPI, because for now we're still stuck with websites cut for 1080p and 720p

2560x1540 144hz TN panel with 3000x2000 on my laptop. The laptop is so high response time it feels a bit nasty though.

Great for shitposting

2560x1440, ol' faithful still going strong

Bout to cop a 4K when the student loan drops in 5 days.

1920x1080, same as last year, but this time @144Hz instead of 60Hz with some serious fucking wizardry when it comes to bezels; 15 6" laptop with a 17.3" display.

Why? 4k is pointless right now. 1440p is the target resolution you should be aiming for. You'd blow most of the loan if you try to get a 4k display above 60Hz

from 1366x768 to 1920x1080

The only sane answer. Everything else belongs on or reddit.

1920x1080p here

I'm happy with the resolution, but now I have a second monitor

Can anyone recommend me a good used dell or hp 24" monitor model? 16/9 or 10, hdmi

Yes

Laptop: 3000x2000 (fuck yeah Huawei).
Desktop: 2560x1440 @ 165Hz.
