To express dislike of one company's practice and being subjected to the same violations by another is not hypocrisy as long as it's recognized. And Facebooks violations are very well known. You could make the case if they were to turn a blind eye to one computer vendors behavior and criticise another they'd be hypocrites. Apple actually care less about your privacy than Google. For Google basically all their money comes from having/using your data and (importantly) being the only ones with most of that data. Your data is basically a money printing machine to them. They don't sell your data, they basically sell your money (that's what ads are, advertisers buy a better chance to get your money). So for Google, giving away your data, or even not protecting your data ultimately decreases the worth of the data they collected on you. Even selling the data would be stupid because who's gonna pay more than Google can make off the data? They're the very best at converting your data to money, nobody comes even close, so nobody will pay enough for it to be worth it. Its like selling a money printing machine - it would be STUPID.
What are apples interests in protecting your data? A good image, I guess? But iSheep wouldn't ever have a bad image of them anyway so not really an argument.
What's Apples incentive to give away your data? Damaging Google, their biggest competitor. Sounds pretty clear to me.
