To buy or not to buy?

If your gonna shuck it ya

Exactly what said, if you're going to shuck it go for it. The drive inside is much better than what you'd ever get from shitty Seagate externals.

What's the benefit of shucking? faster sata connection?
I have an 8TB I got last year.

A drive is cheaper in these enclosures than just buying the drive as these are often on sale, especially at Best Buy.

>Seagate
>shitty
fuck you user. Seagate is the shit.

You should get the networked one at least

>Western Digital
>SATA connector
You're for a surprise, there is no sata connector, but a usb connector soldered to pcb, with no adapter

10TB and more seagates are also helium drives, most likely going to be barracuda pros.
wrong

WD is trash

good buy, has 10TB EMAZ drives as far as I can remember.
this was the case for some 2.5" drives i think. The 3.5 inch are just regular drives in an enclosure.

Lol wd is poverty level

Just price. For some reason externals are usually cheaper

>parts for cheap drives come out of same gook factory
>my cheap crap drive is better than your crap cheap drive

Even if this was the case, couldn't you just use an internal usb header? Maybe you won't get sata speeds, but it'll work all the same.

I bought 5 over Black Friday. It makes for a great zpool when shucked. Is this /data hoarding general/ now? What you guys storing?

Yes
When the 8TB ones go on sale they are better $/TB

If you shuck it you will have to look up what power pin to tape off or use a molex to sata adapter

What is the average life span of this things?

What does "shuck it" mean?

The shit in a toilet, yes I agree.

removing it from the enclosure
