Get a 1060 or 580

>/v/
it's 60fps at medium/high settings WITH dips and occasional drops just because. things like particle effects will destroy thing. if you're thinking about playing the newest games coming out.... DONT.

Geta RX 570 instead.

It's below minimum. This is a GPU you buy if you want to buy a GPU next year too.

An RX 570 shits all over it for around the same price.

1060 6GB.
i5 8600k.
16GB 3000Mhz DDR4.
Keeps me safe for the next couple years.

Is it really that bad?

Yes. Stop swallowing the Nvidia Koolaid. AMD's offering is superior and their drivers are now top notch.

Look up benchmarks yourself???
For Jow Forums purposes, this is extreme overkill, but that's because the most demanding software is the couple of guys running visual studio.

The 1050ti *can* work if all you do is play the same game over and over and you never really play new games when they come out and you're not going above 1080p. If you can afford it, get at least the 1060 and save yourself the headache of trying to inch out a few more frames on underpowered hardware.

Its absolute dogshit.

If you are a poorfag then buy the AMD RX 570. Much faster. Radeon Drivers on polaris GPU are very good. The RX 580 is a 6gb 1060 equivalent card so just by either one. I lean to 580 over 1060 because it has more VRAM, More bandwidth and I like their drivers better.

Dont bother on getting a stronger GPU until CES. Navi cards need to come out to force a p[rice drop from nvidia before anybody spends over 350$ on a graphics card.

>Always Making Duds

Performance categories are as follows.

>1080p-60hz
RX570=/=GTX1060-3gb
RX580=/=GTX1060-6gb
>1440p-60hz
Vega56=/=GTX1070
Vega64=/=GTX1070ti
(overclocking the vega64 puts it above a stock gtx1080 but slower than an OC'ed 1080, not worth it due to excessive power consumption so if 1070ti tier performance isnt enough then just buy a 1080 or RTX2070)
>1080p-144hz
GTX1080=/=RTX2070 (2070 is a bit faster)
>1440p-144hz or 4k-60hz (settings reduced)
RTX2080=/=gtx 1080ti (2080 is slightly faster)
>4k-60fps, 4K-120hz or 1440p-144hz with all 144hz saturated
RTX2080ti

No point unless you're buying a snickers bar sized version or your PSU doesn't have pci-e power

It's the same performance as a gtx680/770 anyway so depends mostly on your use case

it's not that bad. You can modern games at 40ish fps at high settings at 1080p. buy it if your psu isn't good enough for a rx 570 or 580

example of performance
youtube.com/watch?v=U6H117pNX7E

ideal if you have a crap PSU or mini ITX form factor build, never put this in a mid tower gaming desktop though.

but what about the titans?

RX 570 is around the same price and superior in every way.

>1050ti bad
I still got 750ti. I play my Boomer games and so 3dsmax just fine. Haven't gpus progressed or is it a marketing ploy?

It's fine

Or a 2060 in a couple weeks

>40fps
>not that bad
fuck off idiot

>128bit
get 256bit or your stupid

no for real tho I have a gtx 1050 laptop(which is by the way worse than a gtx 1050 ti) and playing with 40 fps on games like ac origins is actually pretty ok.

Anyone who has been playing modern pc games(and doesn't have an overkill card for their resolution) has seen games where their gpu chokes and dips below 60fps. Heck, my gtx 970 desktop rig can't even hold 60 fps ultra consitently(kinda have to drop the settings to high now if I want something close to 60fps).
In fact 40-50fps in shadow of the tomb raider(with drops into the 30s) felt fine on near ultra settings on a gtx 970(especially since it's a linear story based single player game).

The 970 only has 3.5gb of VRAM.

so what. That usually isn't much of a limiting factor for the gtx 970 at 1080p

It can create a 32bit color frame buffer, so yes.

Why the hell is so overpriced now?
What's the alternative for a shit PSU?

It's not a psu.

ew

1050 ti is not too bad as I stated previously

If you wish not to go for a 1050 ti then you can go search "psu tiers" on google find good, reliable psus

>Hey guys I don't use 3d accelleration
>Guys did you know I don't play games
>Hey I'm better than you

Maybe. I just bought a 1050 non-ti because my card died a few months ago and I've been running on Incel shit the whole time- and I've had enough of it.

I play games, i play a lot of games.
But the crushing majority of em don't actually require 3D acceleration.

DOGSHIT. Get a 570, mining crash has them going for like $140.

I'm not complaining...

What an outdated machine.

What if I want to keep this PSU?
Just seems strange that 1050ti is the only option, amd can't in low profile GPUs?

outdated for what?

buy an rx570
get a freesync monitor

or wait until CES which is in 7 days

What's your PSU model then?

Amd (from what I know) usually isn't as concerned with tdp as nvidia is
You know People don't have the money to spill on new components that often right?
It's not that outdated imo

Used 580s are going for around $100. I like mine very much.

It works, who gives a fuck...?

DDR4.

I use a 460w bronze psu and a stock 1060. Unused wattage is wasted wattage.

>3dsmax
A little while ago people were talking about how 1080ti and Titan perform so unusably in CAD software and you really have to buy a Quadro. What gives?
