Yeah we know, thanks to 35C3

Nice.

>running uefi
>ever
good, uefi retards need to be culled from this world

is this a good thing?

it's just a backdoor working as intended

>Windows
GNU/Linux doesn't have this problem.

>Processors hacked
Of course you can run bad shit on UEFI. You can rootkit BIOS too.

You are retarded
UEFI > BIOS

how couldn't it if uefi is a bootloader?

>bootloader
retard

pls tell me this is bait

This doesnt matter cause were all on Linux
You guys are all on Linux right?

yeah man can't effect us. uefi only for windows

ITT:
>low iq freetards really thinking theyre safe from this
>because clickbait article header has "windows" in it for bonus fud

>physical access needed

Oh look its fucking nothing

So all memes aside is there a way to fix this? Maybe emailing motherboard vendors for a micro code update or is this something affected processor silicon/die level on the cpu or chipset? I’m really lost Jow Forums so someone smart enough throw the real fix for this rather than a shit post

I'm remotely overclocking your CPU as I type this, tough guy.

>locked intcel skylake cpu
Jokes on you.

Well, first and foremost "physical access needed" (H/T ). That's 99% mitigation right there: if your enemy has access to your machine, there are all sorts of other nasty things that can be done to you. So unless people are going into your room all the time, I agree with the other user:
>Oh look its fucking nothing
Ultimately, motherboard manufacturers will come up with mitigations of their own, including hardware (if required).

>intel
>remotely
Looks like that user didn't even have to do anything

If he can overclock this pos, I welcome it.

This.

It's the price you pay for having backdoors.

If there's a door, it will open, sometimes by the intended people, sometimes by non-intended people.

UEFI is a godsend, but it's mostly a glorified BIOS with newer features like GPT boot and such.
Love the ASUS UEFI, but their hardware is sometimes lackluster.

UEFI and it's implementations are a nightmare if you care about stability and simplicity
It should be illegal to sell computers with a boot rom that is soldered and can't easily be reflashed

happy new year winturds

haha gnu\linux wins again haha

Yes. We want any flaws to be seen as soon as possible in any system.

That I happen to hate UEFI and want to see it burn is irrelevant.

haha
