>JUST WAIT FOR WAYLAND LINUXBROS

Wayland is a DOA mess. Instead of improving the tried and tested Xorg, people pussy out and write new crap.
Hello? Software don't age.

Classic freetard penguin OS problems

only way to improve xorg would be to drop half (or more) of the features GNOME style, and rewrite the rest from ground up. Writing something clean from scratch is simply easier.

my slackware doesn't have this problem

this.
have that in mind and read this post from yesterday and embrace the cringe:
drewdevault.com/2019/01/01/Patches-welcome.html

i solved the screentearing issue, by using i3-gaps on arch and never moving or changing my three windows (htop, vim with i3 config file open, ranger). Every other app i assign to their own workspace, where they are maximized. Since unixporn is the only website i visit, I just refresh with F5 instead of scrolling the page. so no tears here!

this

So this is the power of Linux........

Ever since I switched to Linux (5 years ago) I have never ever experienced any screen tearing, so I have no idea what you are on about.

>Instead of improving the tried and tested Xorg
so why don't you do it if you know so much?

sorry but I'm gonna kill your thread

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-radeon.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "Radeon"
Driver "radeon"
Option "AccelMethod" "exa"
# Option "EXAVSync" "on"
Option "TearFree" "on"
Option "DRI" "3"
EndSection

it took my a while to come around but i finally realized what a waste of time Linux is. All your doing is making your life harder by using it. Simple things that windows has graphical utilities for still don't even exist in linux. Linux doesnt even have a simple image editing tool.

>inb4 gimp pain.net
those are shit and you know it.

you are shit, and you know it. (isn't paint.net windows exclusive and pretty good)

Just go into the config files and turn screentearing off...... lol

Well I don't see a reason to, I like xorg th eway it is.
When you get screen tearing, you are reminded how the frames are drawn super quickly, so your hardware is really fast.

>radeon
Post nvidia fix pls

Attached: nvidia.webm (1280x720, 722K)

Dude..... post the fix

that's the fix

never seen it
these people, microshit, starting these threads, are idiots

Run sudo nvidia-settings.
Go to xscreen0 options (third or fourth from the top)
Click advanced.
Tick force composition pipeline, not FULL.
Apply.
Save settings to xorg config file.
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf
You're welcome.

unironically GNOME doesn't have this problem and I tried kde, openbox, xfce, lxde and mate, +dwm & i3.
Though I remember you can set a xorg option in the graphic card to fix the problem.

enjoy your massive stutter with multiple layers of composition imposed by TearFree with no true way for an application to sync with the display.

I use wayland and it works for me.

>enable compton
>no tearing
so hard bros

Attached: compton.png (572x511, 28K)

> impying it works on most machines

This, most compositor-side vsync options are fucking worthless. I always have to enable tearfree or full composition pipeline to get rid of tearing.

Attached: IMG_20180912_063747.jpg (1369x1023, 286K)

>Run sudo…
No not again. Last time I ran something from Jow Forums with sudo, I had to buy a new motherboard battery.

Enjoy your tearing then.

you can protect your installation, by executing: mv -f $XDG_CONFIG_HOME /tmp
then reboot.
always do this before sudo

You can force composition pipeline without launching the nvidia settings as root, but you won't be able to save your xorg configuration, thus you'll have to re-enable it everytime you reboot/log in.

TOU FUCKING FUCKING FUCKING SCUM BAG CUM SCUM SCUM
HOW DO I TURN IT BACK I HAVE HOMEWRORK TO UPLOAD

Post more maids.

Fucking kek

NO DONT KEK TELL ME HOW TO GET IT BAACK
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW PLEASE

Do you really executed it or just baiting?

fuck the fuck off then cunt
I thought it will PROTECT MY INSTALLATION
so I TESTED IT OUT WITH
mv -f $XDG_CONFIG_HOME /tmp && sudo rm -rd *

FFFUCJ

assuming you're not falseflagging, this is why you don't run commands you copy paste from the internet before first reading them to understand what exactly it is that they do and try to simulate the consequences that such commands might have on a system.

Suck my fucking dick how do you dumb fucking ffaggots even keep getting dubs/trips FUCK off

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 61K)

I'm not the one who gave you the command. No need to be rude to the people because you lazied out to type mv --help before executing it.
Assuming that this is not a bait of course, which it probably is.

fuck off

Ask and you shall receive.

I had to use compton. Then it somehow started to use 100% cpu and brought my computer to a crawl. God dammit why is this so fucking hard.

You have truly warmed my heart.
Thank you.

Because no corporation is interested in a good linux graphics experience for a common user. Those workstations that are used for CGI (for example) are maintained by professional sysadmins and they can overcome these issues. Others do not matter to business and thus they recieve nothing.

I have some more, not with the maid outfit though.

Attached: IMG_20180515_080258.jpg (1536x2048, 661K)

I've been waiting for like 5 fucking years. The worst part is the Wayland demo has always worked fucking wonders. It should have been adopted immediately by GPU drivers and any modern composition window manager. Fuck Linux until we get decent compositing.

Sauce is @aopyun on twitter if i remember correctly.
You're welcome user.

>bunnysuits next
Oh heck
Thanks again, I'll have a look.

>foaming
so mad

AMD MASTERRACE BUTTFUGGS NVIDIOTS YET AGAIN

> Option "AccelMethod" "exa"
you may comment that out as well

there is also an option for Intel and Nvidia, if I remember it is exactly the same option. OP btfo.
If you don't want to touch
hahahhahahhahahhahahahahhahahahhah

why is 4 chan so stupid? why is it so hard to extend the post box with 125px when there's a thumbnail? how the fuck did moot get hired by goog le

use gnome's wayland session, retard
however it may have some lag or minor stutter during video playback

I don't see how a driver issue is related to the Linux kernel.

>how the fuck did moot get hired by goog le
by selling his soul to the debil

>the debil
blyaaat….

is wrong user, there's no such twitter account help. Well anyways don't, I can reverse it I guess

consider the following.jpg
who do you suppose started gayland and why?

>openbox
it's sort of dead but most wms are
you shouldn't use anything that still uses xlib insted of xcb

it's gone jim

but it was just your .config so it's no big deal

Found it back!
It's @Minamo021

Attached: IMG_20180902_092039.jpg (1364x2048, 223K)

>just your .config
or was it?

oh yeah I guess in those you need to set a compositer

user? user?! Anoooon!!

Attached: IMG_20180905_173508.jpg (900x1350, 63K)

Force composition pipeline doesn't work with PRIME displays. Wat do?

Aaah there's more?
I thought something had happened to the twitter and thought I'd look elsewhere later.

Attached: lazymaid.png (1602x1128, 2.14M)

>Hello? Software don't age.
Over the decades X has turned into an unmaintainable mess. Even the devs forgot how the made it.

Everything has a point in it's life cycle when it's time to set it on fire and start from a scratch.

What is a prime display?

I hadn't been on twitter in months, turns out she deleted her first account and switched to another, which i fortunately followed. I posted it in my earlier reply.

I have posted all the pics i hav on my phone. I have more on my computer. I will post them when i get home.

Attached: IMG_20180810_072151.jpg (900x1350, 114K)

it's basically gnome and kde that have a working one

bump

Lmoa

Gnome with Wayland doesn't have this issue.

And this is why you look up a command before running it if you're unfamiliar with what it does.

BASED

uhhmmmm LOL

Attached: works on my machine.png (200x193, 30K)

Gnome with Wayland might as well be a fucking chromebook because good luck running any program that isn't Firefox without xwayland

No such issues with intel hd graphics + KDE kwin compositor.

Xorg was utter garbage. Wayland is the future for linux graphics pipeline.

Instead of shitposting trash how about learning a little about what you are talking about. youtube.com/watch?v=Zsz7Shbnb9c

>install Ubuntu 18.10
>minimizing and maximizing windows, and launching the program viewing list are choppy as fuck
>no progress bar when transferring files

Whose to blame? Gnome or Ubuntu?

Gnome, it's just as bad on openSUSE.

>software doesn't age
that might be the dumbest thing anyone's said on Jow Forums since the quantum tunneling guy

nice pasta

>quantum tunnelling
>pasta
??

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

*blocks your path*

>tfw using i3-gaps and no tearing even without compositor
based working drivers

>GNOME
Might as well commit suicide. Install KDE.

"Bagmilk"

It's in a carton.
