Ubuntu with i3

This is good just make sure to install the power thing to reduce power consumption. tlp? i think? something like that.

>i3
No, memory is not a problem for me. I'd like a comprehensive desktop experience.

i3 is fantastic and crazy fast though. sure, if you dont use vim it has a learning curve but it is very worth it. If you are super set on not using a wm then just go gnome you nerd

i'm interested in i3, should i give it a try if i despise vim? currently using xfce on my laptop

Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE to start off for new learners. Using it now (just reinstalled to get wi-fi working). Bit of a learning curve, but it werks.

Which laptop, if using a hidpi panel you want to use a GNOME distro

So Fedora or Ubuntu are good choices

why linux mint xfce instead of simply xubuntu?

Just try it vim has nothing to do with i3

i would at least give it a try. when i started, i hadn't used vim at all. I really wish there was a windows version of it but all of the windows wms suck booty. i mean worse comes to worst you can just switch it out with whatever you were using before

Yup, using Mint here. Pretty freaking fast too.

Here's a pic

install gentoo

check this out:
linuxinsider.com/story/85603.html

How are layers of abstraction user-friendly?

Because not everyone wants to edit a hundred .conf files every time they install something.

Mint, Debian, Elementary, Ubuntu, many flavors available

>mint
might as well be running windows on top of the linux kernel
>elementary
they hate you for not paying them. just become a mactoddler.
>ubuntu
based and gnomepilled
>gentoo not recommended
spotted the brainlet

That isn't how Arch works.

What laptop are you gonna use anyway?

because mint is better than ubuntu

It's the same fucking shit.

Nahhh, Ubuntu was slower for me in my shit-tier notebook. Ubuntu also has Amazon shit.

You can change things after you install, you know?

No one with a proper brain uses gentoo for a laptop..go back to your mancave.

Yeah, but why bother. I also love XFCE.
