Tinnitus cope thread

How do you Jow Forumsoons cope with this eternal torment? Is there any technology to help reduce it?

I've tried binarual beats and hippie music but nothing helps, it's still there every god damn day. Most of the time I just ignore it and push through but there are nights where I want to break down and cry. Already been to doc and basically got told I'm fucked until the day I die.

You get used to it over time and it will no longer bother you.

I run a fan in my bedroom to generate white noise, which helps.

make a playlist of songs that'll go alonge with whatever tone is ringing in your head

i dunno, i just live with it, during the day its practically unhearable, at night i get so tired that i sleep right away.

You don't have tinnitus; you just have high blood pressure. Eat healthier

I'm 18 and I have it :/

You know what's weird? It likes to fuck with me when doing that. It will sporadically stop and start and then hum at a low volume and then go back to normal intensity after a while.

What could happen if I just listen to its frequency on high volume? I can hear it around 15-16Khz.

That's the ironic part, I'm 80KG, 5 ft 10 in, and eat only home cooked foods my parents make, I rarely go out to eat fast food except in the morning but even then it's usually just a monster and a donut.

Attached: 1512844825117.png (421x421, 281K)

If this is the case, exercise and eating better definitely. Also consider supplementing with grape seed extract for a couple of months and see where it gets you.

Please excuse the Reddit link. But, I found this a long time ago, and it really, absolutely works, if even for a short time. It's nice to remember what silence like.

>It's nice to remember what silence like.
what silence is** like

Monsters and donuts that’s fucking terrible no wonder you have tinnitus. #notevenonce

>home cooked foods my parents make
That doesn't mean shit. People can eat home-cooked food all their lives, get fat and die from heart disease all the time.
I'm claiming absolutetly nothinga about your health here but if you want to follow that user's advice about eating healthy I hope you evaluate it by a different standard than that.

White noise generator.

Basically buy an airfilter or something and just run it all the time.

i eliminated white noise from my sleeping environment and forced myself into the torturous silence every single day for two weeks
then it was over, completetly, i wasn't suffering from genuine hearing damage, i just slept in a room with a computer on for too long and became overaccustomed to white noise

now i don't dread the day the power goes out and i have to hum myself to sleep, or sleep outside anymore

Stop using headphones

Can confirm. I went from suicidal to I don't care anymore / don't notice it anymore.
Takes a few years tho.

Got mine on a bad trip when I was 16. Am 31 now.
Protip: don't do drugs, kiddos.

Ever since I was a kid I'd get waves of high pitched ringing in my ears. It's not that bad though. I'm an audio engineer and I'm curious if I'm missing out on frequencies because of my ears.

When I was a kid (~3) my dad was a retard and let me fall asleep in front of his max volume sound system.

I've had tinnitus my whole life since. I've never known what the world sounds like without it.

However, I don't really notice it, it's not particularly bad tinnitus overall, and I actually have better hearing than either of my parents. Still, I actually take precaution with my hearing now. I always wear earplugs to loud events or when doing anything that makes excessive noise like mowing the lawn. I can't really change what happened when I was 3, but I can at least prevent it from getting too much worse as I age.

same, my ears aren't that bad, it's distracting but i can sleep, anyways i keep a fan on for noise and my window is open, i live close to a busy street and a police station which helps a lot

Why are there so many defective people here? I would kill myself.

I get it rarely, but any time it occurs I tap the sides of my head behind the ears. Do this for a couple seconds depending on severity and in the right spot, and it goes away somehow.

Retard

OP here is what fixed it for me, I think it's completely mental thing and I was a wreck while having tinnitus.

>INTENSTE PHYSICAL EXERCISE FOR 1,5 HOURS PER DAY (BOXING, KICKBOXING, JIU JITSU, ETC..)
>Find a job and source of money, I worked in the most retarded physically heavy industry and that's when my tinnitus went away for some reason, despite being very loud environment
>Study, read books, don't go on computer a lot, unless you actually think and not just lurk and fap when you use computer
>DON'T FUCKING FAP OR LOOK PORN
>Buy ear plugs if you can't sleep and sounds are distracting you
>stop drinking coffe, alchocol and sugary shit
>meditate and think about what is bothering you

That's pretty much it, I know it's a lot, but that's what fixed it for me and I was a fucking wreck for years and suicidal, since I couldn't sleep, didn't have outlook on life, didn't manage my money, didn't manage my risk, didn't take life seriously, etc.

I'm not saying it will work for you, but I'm just sharing my experience and what happened to me to cure it.
Also forget about women and focus on carrer, if you are mid 20s.

Attached: 1536403119346.jpg (420x420, 14K)

well, I should probably stop going on trips then

>then it's usually just a monster
I would stop that, I too have a slight bit of tinnitus and I am pretty certain that my frequent consumption of energy drinks has at least helped.

One cause for Tinnitus, according to my doctor, is stress, which at the time really confused me, since it began for me at a time where I was in a very low stress period of my life.
But energy drinks are essentially stress in a bottle (seriously, try to objectively tell the difference, before and after you drink your monster and you will see my point, your heart starts beating faster, you start to sweat, you become more alert), so that made a lot of sense after I thought about it.

Also notice that I am giving you advice I don't follow myself, so call me retard.

You basically just get used to it. You still hear it but you learn to ignore it and it stops bothering you. I perforated ly right eardrum when I was 16 and have mostly had constant ringing for a decade. Background noise helps but ulImately you need to learn to accept your new reality.

these two. Quitting coffee helped me too.

Also try adderal, modafinil or ritalin.

Should fix your shit up, if you are actually fucked. Don't think it won't work, just go and fucking try it and see for yourself.

>quitting coffee and fapping will stop tinnitus that was likely caused by hearing damage
Unironically kill yourself, retards.

Everyone hears a high pitch whine when its really quiet.

Quit being a fucking baby.

Yup, believe it or not, it's usually a mental thing with people that have depression, anxiety, etc.. than actual hearing damage you fucking retard.

Now, if a person is also unironically highly sensitive already, substances and any quick/short-term dopamine releasing activities will only help to further fuck up their brains, causing in tinnitus.

It's unironically true.

>Unironically kill yourself, retards.
My doctor told me that stress can cause tinitus, Coffein ist essentially just stress in powder form so quitting that isn't a bad idea.

Cool, you don’t have reading comprehension either.

Tell me, where did I misunderstand you?

Reread the post.

I did.

advantage is I never need to buy higher-grade audio equipment since I won't benefit from "cleaner" audio anyways

>have a server in same room I sleep in
>takes about a week to get used to noise
>server gets moved to different place later
>mfw can't sleep without a computer turned on because I start hearing clocks, refridgerators, people fucking in other apartments, birds screaming outside etc.

My tinnitus served as an indicator for neck problems/bad posture. It's a complex disease, but less computer-time and more walking/lifting did help. Tinnitus can also be a sign of emotional stuff going on. Are you troubled, OP?
>nice trips

Attached: 1512167355257.jpg (960x720, 125K)

That statement is wrong.

This happens to me also wtf

Wow, so many autistic people ITT not realising what's wrong.

You need to figure out a way to remove accumulated heavy metals.

wtf why are there so many people with tinnitus itt
i have never met anyone irl who had it, not even anyone talking about it

You need to do self massages like this youtube.com/watch?v=QA-wi0d7-Ro
(Self Lymph Drainage Massage)
Relieve the pressure in your head

Attached: sam hyde cpu.png (466x492, 206K)

Then provide a method you fuckwit.

It slowly rings in one ear and fades out after about 5 seconds. Same for you?

Not the same guy, but it happens to me as well. Maybe we all have a brain tumor.

Stop having shit nutrition and excercise.

>tfw have headphones on all the time
I... I... won't get It.... right bros? AAAAA I'm so scared

Attached: 1539203218152.jpg (836x543, 111K)

Headphones are unhealthy, buy and use speakers.

I had that before I had the constant 16khz sounding tinnitus though

Now I have the fading one in addition to this

I don't enjoy watching movies or vidya without them, user. And I don't like blasting shit so that everyone can hear. Listnening to music is tricky tho, sometimes I listen to heavy tracks with high volume for 30 minutes- an hour a day, Is this unhealthy?

You call my gooey earwax build-up unhealthy user?

You don't need to blast shit with speakers. They sound good even on low volumes. I got almost completely rid of my headphones when I got speakers. I prefer listening on quite-talk loudness on speakers than "real-life loud" on headphones. You have less control on headphones, you always crank it up.

>not being able to hear sound for half a minute when a loud bike passes two blocks down

>Coffein ist essentially just stress in powder form
Are you a German neo-nazi who snorts caffeine?

>retarded tripfag
Just leave.

I cut sugar and caffeine from my regular diet.
It's not forbidden but it's very rare.
I might have a soda once every 2 months.
When I stay up later and/or when effects of sugar/caffeine wear off, it's at least 2x perceptibly louder.

For a long time I spent about 40 minutes a day getting very high on cannibis and meditating intently with a regiment I had built up over years.
That is, before the incident that damaged my ears, I was already meditating for its own benefits. Post incident I honed this even more.

I also fuck around with this every now and then with varying success.
lukeusmaximus.github.io/acrn-tinnitus-treatment/

Despite having some success, I cannot subject myself to regular treatment. The beeping makes me go fucking crazy after multiple days. But I certainly notice a relieving difference.

I also have an unrelated blockage somewhere in my sinnuses. My doctor told me to use a steroid spray (generic flonase) every day.
In reality I only had to use it once and it basically cleared up that problem instantly. I also felt relief that I didn't feel for years for that 1 day, but subsequent use did nothing.
At least for a day I got to perceive silence again.

Maybe some of that information is useful.

Attached: tinnitus.jpg (202x250, 10K)

Google stuff like removing amalgam fillings and the cilantro/chlorella detox.

>go into a room
>don't hear anything
>realize I don't hear anything
>IS IT GONE?
>I notice it again
I punish myself

>Are you a German neo-nazi who snorts caffeine?
No, I don't snort caffeine.
Just test it yourself, for me drinking a monster noticeably increases my heart rate, how much I sweat and how aware I am, does this not happen to you?

Be careful with these substances.
They certainly benefit you short term but can be unhealthy long term if you're not careful.
As always, do your own research and be diligent when you first use/experiment with it.
Every body is different.

I ask for a prescription only when I feel like I need it (falling behind at work, home, etc.)
And I have a very particular regiment based on my own experimentation. I know my body and needs, but they differ from everyone else.
I have never had self control issues though.
Everyone talks about the addictive potency of these drugs, so be careful.

How do I know if I have tinnitus?
Is it a really mild eee or a HUEG EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH?

Thanks for posting this, I'm interested in trying it.
I have a relatively large bump on my face under my skin. It's not noticeable except via touch.
My doctor says it's just a lymph node.
Wonder if it will make a difference on the size. It's grown over the years but the doctor says not to worry unless it gets as large as a golf ball and stays that way. It's about the size of a dime for me.

Attached: file.png (500x500, 169K)

It varies. Tinnitus is the broad term to describe different kinds of objective or subjective noise.

I have 2 different levels of EEEEEEEE per ear that nobody can hear but myself.
Only the left one is loud enough to bother me and I think it's somewhere between 6-8k in frequency.
It kind of alternates in that range too.

I tried making a demo file for someone years ago but chose a bad example song because it's loud as fuck.

But if you're interested, here is part of a song, then I cut out the frequencies that I can't hear then I add noise that matches the pattern of mine.

This advice is just generally good for getting your life together, whether you have tinnitus or not.
Are you sure you weren’t just suicidal because your life was all around shit?

Lol why would this thread come up now as im trying to cope with it being really bad.

wanna know how it got bad this time? I farted too hard, no joke.

Are we talking bodily pressure or record breaking flatulence sound?
My condolences either way.

Just make sure You can listen to some sound in background for the entirety of your life I listen to fans on my servers while they spin me to sleep.

>My tinnitus served as an indicator for neck problems/bad posture.

Can you tell me more about this? I think i have the same problem but the doctors think im crazy.

>requiring absolute uninterrupted media intake over valuing long term health

i assume pressure. My ear suddenly felt like it was underwater until i stopped farting, now its bad.

Sounds like im making shit up, i wish i was.

One Austrian dude who has tinnitus, said kratom weed helps alot

At night I play sounds of gentle rain.

Probably Americans with their over reliance on drugs.

Not that user but I had dramatic (non-tinnitus) relief when I started massaging my neck muscles and regularly trying to straighten the bones with stretches.
Same with my spine.
For me it was an awful and long process but was well worth it. It's really uncomfortable when your fucking spine pops and every single time it feels like you got beat up by a world class fighter.

I can't find the video I started with but the most useful one for me was the side stretch.
Essentially from a standing position with proper footing, put your arms straight up, then SLOWLY lunge to the left, curving like image related. Almost like you're trying to point at the ground with the top of your head.
And then repeat for each direction.

It fucking sucks and can probably kill you if you do it wrong.

You also probably want to look into spiritual shit like Tai Chi, not for spiritual reasons though. Thing like that make you calmer because they're essentially stretches. More aligning bones than aligning chakras.

Don't neglect the muscles either, massage and rest them.

There's tons of material on stretching positions, spine decompression, etc.
Even if there's nothing wrong with you, it's still going to benefit you long term most likely. You'll at least be more limber and probably free up some physical stress.

Eventually it stops feeling like you got beaten up, and you just have to do it for maintenance.

For my own self I gained 2 inches of height in about a year and a half. Undoubtedly lost from hunching at a desk all day for decades prior.

Attached: african dance.png (1528x604, 18K)

Make sure to wear earplugs at concerts.

I went to a concert many few years ago and stood next to the speakers without earplugs like an idiot, lost a bunch of hearing at 4k, was put on steroids for a few weeks and although some hearing returned now I have a loud whine in one ear.

Never had anxiety before but it turned me into a wreck for a good year or so until I got used to it.

Just keep a white noise machine on, teach yourself to immediately stop thinking about it when you accidentally think about it, or do some DIY cognitive behavioural therapy if that's difficult.

Eventually you'll just habituate to it and ignore it in the same way you ignore the fact you're breathing or wearing clothes. Most older people have pretty bad tinnitus yet never think about it at all with no issues, so user you can too.

As for "cures", not even ENTs themselves understand tinnitus or how to treat it (seriously go look up some research papers, every single one is "dunnolol"). There is no cure just as there is no current cure to hearing loss, and anyone who says so is lying.

But, changing your reaction to the point you don't notice it is pretty much as good as a cure - and it's basically the current academic line of "treatment" for tinnitus.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted: mynoise.net/

Mine went in and out for years for short bursts. Its on now for 6+months and I broke down the other day.
I think mine is mental though. Im very sensitive sensory wise and still have great hearing.
I think it is more of a blood pressure and bad trip combo for me now. Or maybe a blood clot came loose.

By the way, this is called fleeting tinnitus and is pretty much considered completely normal.

>seriously go look up some research papers, every single one is "dunnolol"
It's true.
People will do drastic things without basis too. Like flying to Asia to inject very expensive stem cells into their ears because ???.
I understand the desperation, but ultimatley there's nothing right now.
The cure for tinittus is most likely the cure for deafness. And despite how widespread that is and how much money is going into research, it's just as illusive and arbitrary as cancer treatment.

That being said.
For the mental side of things, when I first got it (2014), probably the only thing keeping me alive was the prospect that in my lifetime they MAY find a solution.

It doesn't mentally bother me at all now (4+ years now), but for the first 2 years it was a struggle to stay alive.
As with everything, the chance is there. Eventually this will be a solved problem, and it may or may not happen while I'm alive. But the chance alone was/is enough.

I will achieve godhood the day I hear silence again. That's worth waiting for. Imagine living a lifetime with a problem and having it lifted. The prospect alone is enticing. Like draining an abscess.

Nice. I love soft pink noise generators myself.

here's how i managed to control my tinnitus. just keep in mind that tinnitus could be a manifestation of very different medical conditions.
drop coffee/energy drinks. this was extremly hard decision for me as i _need_ my fix in the morning. tea is no substitute; i need a hard kick. and it is not about addiction as caffeine addiction wears out in a matter of month max.
flex my neck thoroughly. several times a day. this correlates with reddit post.
i could not stand mechanical/artificial noise, but noise from my street helps to ignore ringing a lot.
silence just makes my case worse. as quiet sounds subconsciously forces me to "listen harder". that's probably the cause of my condition in the first place.
i would bet on blood pressure/vein muscles tone pathway of action rather than cortisol or dopamine one.
fucking this

Attached: f4db234a69dd0b2713de6f5adfd3785f.png (63x66, 16K)

I heard that this implies you have a blockage in your ears. That the tapping of the fingers is nothing other than a pacer, and what's important is that rhythm of pumping your ears to clear the way.

If this works for you, you may have success with pouring peroxide in your ears, or using >I also have an unrelated blockage somewhere in my sinnuses. My doctor told me to use a steroid spray (generic flonase) every day.
>In reality I only had to use it once and it basically cleared up that problem instantly. I also felt relief that I didn't feel for years for that 1 day, but subsequent use did nothing.

Peroxide is how I stumbled on to this but I'm pretty sure that's bad for you. It was the only thing that would relieve pressure in my head though before the flonase, which alleviated it permanently for me. But my tinnitus originates from physical trauma (explosion).

After seeing different specialists about it for years, nobody saw a problem in the ear, but after research I assumed it was middle ear effusion. I talked to my doctor about it and we tried the hormone spray, and it worked like a charm.
Worth talking about with your doctor maybe.

actually, i had a turbinate surgery a year before my tinnitus started, both on the right side. had no problems with swelling in nose/sinuses since.

Well, I was a zoomer I got my tinnitus during a concert. It was a nice little venue for 50 persons, but the band, especially the guitarist, were idiots and had amplification for a big concert hall. I couldn't hear the drums over the electric guitar ;_; Ever since I carry earplugs to concerts.
Le next day:
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oh the panic.

Then I visited doctors, got infusions, etc etc, it didn't make a lot difference. Luckily, my sense of hearing was not damaged.
When lying in my bed in silence I realized that my tinnitus depended a bit on my breath and how my body was lying, especially my head.
Fast forward two months, I had an NMRI scan of my head to exclude neurological issues. Brain was A-ok, but there a was a intervertebral disc (after c3 idk?) which was a little bit damaged and protuded a little bit towards the spinal nerves, but did not touch. They told me that the disc issue could not possibly be related to my tinnitus, but I think that's up for debate.
Anyways, with time and performing muscle relaxation it got a lot better, and after picking up lifting as a hobby (deadlifts!) it's practically gone. It's acting up perhaps once a year when there's too much work/stress/bad posture during computer time/not enough sleep, but then it goes away pretty fast. I'm glad.
>small pillow
>sleep, water, fresh air, good food
>check B vitamins, esp B12, and D, supplement only after check
>remove electrical noise/fans if possible
>deadlift, OHP, chinup, rows for strong back mussles and good posture
My dad's got tinnitus, too, but he doesn't care. There's evidence that it is hereditary. It's a very complex issue. My personal tinnitus was triggered by loud music and relieved by building my underdeveloped muscles to support my damaged spine - or so I think, sample size n=1. I hope you get better. You can try this isometric exercise in bed in silence and see if it has any effect on you. But don't expect wonders.

Attached: Image20result20for20neck20stretches.jpg (250x251, 10K)

I just ignore it. It's only when retards like you remind me of it that I think of it. Thanks, asshole.

don't worry, you're going to get tinnitus, too. especially if you're one of those headphone/earbud retards.

nerd neck and tinnitus seem to go hand in hand

>tinnitus gets 10x louder
Its fucked

stop using headphones

Pic related
Yes, that's true, but you said in powder form.

Attached: drake.jpg (800x450, 134K)

For me it's better at first but insanely loud as the night goes on.
By 10 o'clock I'm super relaxed and quiet.
When I stumble into the bathroom at 3AM it's like 8 billion bat screeches in there.

>don't listen to music at too high volumes
wew that was tough

tinnitus since 2001 and still living. Because I was stupid I made it louder several times, then it become louder of it own many times, now the high-pitched screaming is about 45db. Still able to cope. Maybe Frequency Therapeutics will help.

try closing your nose and mouth and blow mucus out of your nostrils GENTLY until you feel abit pressure on eardrums. watch dont rupture yours

>but you said in powder form.
Well, you can buy caffeine as a powder, either as coffee or pure.
That powder is then put into drinks, I didn't mean much by it.
