I habe the G302 with the AM010. it is a cheap sensor with high lift off distance and it easily malfunctions when you swipe really fast. Only an issue for shooter gaymes and when you use alow sensitivity.
What's the difference by now? Same sensor, similar durability microswitches. G502 has some giga autistic gaymer aesthetics and it feels worse than a DA in your hand thanks to all those edges.

if there's a big price difference, no.
it uses the new hero sensor which is the same old 3366 with a little more cpi and variable frame rate to lower power consumption. not relevant for a wired mouse. the cable has also bern improved (more flexibility).

It's just that I really like the G402 but it has an inferior sensor to the G502
However, lot's of people say the G502 is worse for shooter games due to its higher weight. Also, according to some, G402 feels much more like the MX518/G400 which is my previous mouse

The G402 is suitable for your use. Logitech added an accelerometer sensor to keep the mouse working perfectly even when you swipe faster than what the AM010 can handle normally. i'm unsure why that solution was cheaper than to just add a 3366 but it was probably due to segmentation from the G502.
that's probably because it's more premium and found more buyers. people might've been put off by the am010 but no worries it does track without acceleration/angle snapping. with the additional sensor it fixes the issues the g302 was struggling with.
somewhat related but i read that they'll release a new MX518 with the 3366(hero). probably asia first like the new intelli 3.0 god fucking knows why.

Found the G502 Hero for the price of the G502, so I ordered it. Lets see if it's any good.

G502 only got "superior sensor" which seems to be invalidated by the Fusion Engine, and a scrollwheel with infinite scroll. I will see if I can try them both later

You can get an MX518 Legendary from Aliexpress. Got mine for around $60 from a seller called Majortech or something. If you can ignore the smooth plastic that kind of grips to your skin it's a fucking amazing mouse. Modern top tier gaming mouse with Logitech gaming drivers without the gay RGB.

That first Microsoft mouse top left. I used to have that mouse years ago. Upgraded from a ball mouse to it. Used it for about 4 years before upgrading to Mad Catz Rat 9, piece of shit died on me so I got a Mad Catz Rat 7, also died on me but I bought it because I liked the feel of it. I'm currently using the EVGA X10 TorQ Laser (Carbon Edition), had it for 4 years or so. Only thing I dislike about it is the indents where sweat get's trapped in and is hard to clean out.

Slight hardware update I think. Not sure what exactly. The G400s should be better so if you have to choose pick that.

G400s has another coating on the plastic top and the cable is reinforced.
