Whatever happened to the transparent phone?

Why doesn't someone make a phone with a bunch of cameras on the back and make it look like it's transparent?

because nobody wants that

literally what purpose does it serve though?

Transparent-ish screens are pretty likely to appear before 2020.

You'd have to implement eye tracking or that would only work if you looked at the phone straight on.

>nobody wants that
This
The transparent panels can't do black, and using camera video is retarded.

because its inferior to an "all screen" phone which is what people actually want

>to
Make the screen take up the whole front of the phone Samsung already working on having a camera behind the display

What would be the benefit of it?

how do i get this technology?

Buy the new foldables, or curved displays that came out.

you can't.. yet. this has been dragging on since 2012/2013, samsung showed off a prototype bendable tablet last year but still nothing available. i think it'll be a few years before we see anything practical and for sale.

Buy an iPhone 6 and put it in your backpocket

Finally I can soonjust crumble down the phone into the pocket like it's a few dollar bills.

I want to open up a picture of a Asuka's ass, roll the phone up and fuck her real good.

i prefer my phone blacked

>>the year of our lord 2030
>>moore's law's fucking dead so companies have invested trillions in gimmicks
>>finally have transparent batteries, electronics, screens, mm wave antennas, even see through micro SD cards
>>get my glassphone
>>logon to www.Jow Forums.org premium with blazingly fast 5G in public
>>gigabytes of pornographic images(and worse) in full 4k flash across the phone screen
>>everyone stares at the back side of the phone screen, several bystanders puke and collapse. Some chuckle.
>>Get arrested for public obscenity

>almost unbreakable phone
>that is the interest of phone selling companys
think for once

pretyy sure theres an app for that on android that turns your active background into the camera feed but if ou did this 24/7 how llong would our batter last?

could it not be coupled with a transparent lcd panel for the black? just curious from a technical point of view, from a practicality standpoint this whole idea is retarded.

you can sputter conductive pathways onto glass which will create nearly invisible circuits, but it's not as if you can hide the CPU, memory, and supportive circuitry.
You'd just have a bunch of chips, resistors, capacitors, and fuses floating in mid-air.

Thing is an LCD's white still doesn't let a lot of light though, if you've ever taken apart an LCD panel even if you shine a flashlight through the back its really dim. So the phone would barely be transparent if you used and LCD.

>see porn
>ppl from the other side can see your screen

>Try to read a webpage on your phone
>Half of it is impossible to see because its transparent and you are seeing what is behind the screen more then what's on it.
>Use a dimming feature to make it less transparent while using.
>Phone now uses twice as much power just to not have your web browser look like a ghost.
>Could have just made the phone out of an opaque material instead that costs less to manufacture.

The Expanse is cool and all, but every-time I saw the characters using their phones and tablets that were just panes of glass with hologram buttons floating on the side, all I could think was that those would be really annoying to use.

you'd be surprise

Listen idiots!
I just want a large 16:9 phone with replacable battery and a headphone jack that can run Linux and have 2 USB ports. REEEEEE!

Same as E-Ink phones.

>usb ports
what for? Besides USB ports, there's plenty of unlockable phones that you can install Linux in it. Of course, you need to not be incompetent and compile your own Linux, but you're not incompetent are you user-chan?
