Is there anything wrong with using Python and Anaconda?

What alternatives should I look into?

Cobra is based.

The fuck is anaconda

>Python
There is your problem

Everything python is shit.

Have to work with this shit now. I was used to Mathematica for prototyping. That is not ideal, but still so much better. Libraries are actually tested and show expected behavior most of the time in Mathematica.

Additionally, python is slower than syrup.

>what is numpy and scipy

meant for

install python and spyder. Stop

anaconda uses spyder

Shit :^)

It's still slow and the lack of declarations is quite annoying.

Not flexible enough for a high level language
Too slow for a low level language. Mathematica beats it on both levels.

But a lot of scipy and numpy are written in C, C++ and/or FORTRAN

not really, matlab is when you can't code

What is your use case?

Unless you are in a distro with plenty packages like Arch, I recommend Anaconda.

The advantage of building your own python env is that you can compile stuff like openBLAS and ATLAS for your system so you end up with a faster env than what anaconda offers.

chemical engineering stuff

Not here, but
>But a lot of scipy and numpy are written in C, C++ and/or FORTRAN
does just mean they are faster than Python, not that they are necessarily actually fast.
This. Pythons own ecosystem is fucked, so you're better off with Anaconda, OP.

Just use venv and pip, makes for a smaller setup.

>FORTRAN
It's called FORTRANNEL now, gramps

portable python environment

Does anyone have pictures of Guido van Rossum wearing those cringe feminist t-shirts? Good enough reason for me to never consider using Python again. Also, its FP support is garbage and FP is the future.

Switch to anaconda last year. Never looked back. It is definitely worth a try IMO

How does matlab compare to mathematica?

I know, i start with anaconda.
but only python and spyder matter
