Its retarded to rate distributions by the software that is preinstalled in their most bloated installations. For example, a minimum ubuntu install is actually pretty lean and you can install whatever DE you want. You could make it look exactly like fedora or any other distro it would have just slightly different configuration and different packages available.
The only thing that you should care about is:
1. Software available / package manager quality - this includes hardware compatibility
2. Release cycle and stability
3. Source or binary based (personal preference)
I would rate them:
God tier: Debian / Ubuntu
Good tier: arch
Medium tier: fedora, gentoo
Shit tier: Everything else
If you aren't looking to compile everything from source its extremely hard to make a case for debian / ubuntu arch not being best distros right now, they have the broadest hardware support, the widest and most up to date selection of packages, the most support online, both stable and up to date releases, and they support minimal installs so muh bloat is not really an argument against them. I would say the best distro is debian for a server installs and ubuntu for desktop because debian testing gets broken too often.
