you won’t be able to play vidya

wtf i hate linux now

You won't be able to produce music

you wont be able to use windows 10

You can only use gimp, and krita.

Shitload of Linux games on steam

protondb.com/

richard stallman will hate you

Making beats - LMMS
Volume and pitch editing - Audacity

Because Win7 exists

you wont be able to spend hours defragmenting the hard drive and battling against telemetry tracking

that sounds like a reason you WOULD wanna use linux

Games are for children
grow up

Win7 will no longer get support by next year

Didn't pro get extended to 2023?

>reasons to not use linux
be dumb

That posture is horrific.

>hard drives
Hard drives are for bulk media, and fragmentation isn't an issue when your average file size is 20GB.

google steam proton

Kernel panics, systemd, pulse audio, and CoC.

CLI is scary, and the GUI is laggy.

Win11 will

Why choose?
You know that you can dualboot or run VM:s...

no drivers
you can get much of the same programs on windows anyway, and a lot of windows programs dont work natively without WINE

reasons to use linux:
customization, thats it

Windows defrags drives automatically since Vista lmao

Why can't Asus, a company worth over 100 billion dollars, just set up a quick photo shoot to show off their new gear instead of poorly photoshopping it all onto a stock image of some guy at a desk?

>world war 4

what did they mean by that?

haha
ahahahahaha

Kek, underrated

>produce music
nigger detected, play an instrument you useless piece of shit

I have never even heard of kernel panics before I came to this board a few months ago and I use linux for abour 7 years now

But with improvements in wine and dxvk linux DOES have gaming now. What it doesn't have is support for the cracks these days for heavy DRM like denuvo. So yes, you can play most new AAA games on linux, and even DRM like denuvo works fine. But the a lot of the time the cracks don't. Still, gaming is only one use case, and nothing dual booting or KVM with vga passthrough can't solve.

Can't use Adobe products

based

adobe products are basically spyware, they call home all the fucking time

avoid at all cost

>"haha yeah linux is waay better than windows. I don't even use windows."
>most printers arent compatible with linux or you have to download some shitty program like HPLIP that doesnt work
I only use linux for work. The only reason i dont use windows 7 is i'm too lazy to reformat my SSD from GPT to MBR

You won't get pussy. oh, wait...

Can't. Adobe is the business standard.

>implying you cant do exactly the same thing with different apps
paint.net and GIMP are just fine desu. or corel depending on what you need

b-but mom! it's different from what i'm used to and i'm too stupid to learn new things!!

based

Traps dont usually like big fat nerdy linux neckbeards. If you want to fuck a trap give up linux and adopt windows or ios

>7 years with Linux
>Never heard of kernel panics
I find that hard to believe.

same here. I think the last time I saw anything related to kernel panic on my systems was maybe 10 years ago

>implying my employer cares about Adobe alternatives
Professionals use Adobe; thus, professionals don't use Linux.

Proton

Ardour, Tracktion, LMMS

These are good things

There's nothing on my system that doesn't function. Things made for Mac don't necessarily work for Windows. Things made for Android don't work on iOS. Stupid point. Buy the right shit for what you own.

KDenLive, Blender, GIMP, Ardour. Speaking as a professional that uses those tools on Linux every day instead of using CC on Windows, even though work offered to pay for them. I make commercials and training videos for a living. Adobe's business model is retarded. Keep renting software instead of owning it, user. Good move.

It's not a "standard". Adobe isn't "normal" or any of that shit. It's all just bullshit that somehow became the "truth" after too many people got jewed. Being forced to use Adobe means having a shitty job.

>Professionals
please read sorry your little graphic designer brain can't handle more than one program

Actually if they were true professionals they would be using dedicated hardware and firmware to draw straight onto film, digital media, or whatever else you use. Photoshop is actually piss poor compared to some hardware solutions that you can spend thousands of US dollars on. Global TV companies, advertising agencies, film studios, etc, you honestly cant believe they use anything as shitty as photoshop and premiere, can you?

I like linux and windows in a work environment (I'm a IT/DevOps engineer type dude) as they're highly configurable and intuitive. However I use OSX at home and it's extremely stable and never gives me shit that stops me doing what I want to do. Not an apple shill, I dislike Apple in general and my new Mac Mini is the only Apple product I own.

You missed Bitwig which I tried on Linux but didn't get in to. This stuff is down to personal preference but I've never been able to switch off Ableton since I started using it. In Linux the time you are wasting time fixing too much, like drivers for low latency and stuff, and you're usually dealing with an imperfect harmony between software and hardware. I'd say Linux options are fine if you are just recording. But you look at plugin compatibility as well, it's just a hassle. There's a reason it's not taken off. There is just something nicer about using a purpose built tool rather than taking raw materials and forcing it into your own shape in my opinion. Kudos to you for using open source software though, that's something I'm all for and would love to do more of.

This is generally fact. If by professionals you mean creative professionals.

>implying 25 year old pink-haired hipster with some Surface Pro is an actual professional

I use *just werks* Ubuntu

lel

what size do you have your favorites bar at?
>anything over 30% is for eyelets

Ubuntu Mate since they switched to Unity. I fucking hate unity and gnome3

...how do you think said surface pro was acquired? You sound a little butthurt lol

Tracktion and Ardour both have a great deal of plugins. Compression, EQ, limiting, noise gates, Melodyne, sound replacement, all accounted for.
You can even point Tracktion at Logic Pro loop libraries, in case you switched your workstation from Mac OS when Apple/Google/Mozilla dropped support for your perfectly functioning six-year-old hardware.

>I use *just werks* Ubuntu
Maybe this is why. I don't think Ubuntu acknowledges kernel panics anymore, because they get so many.

trust fund
never had a problem on standard ubuntu apart from occasional lag

Jow Forums is full of retards who recompile their kernel every week who don't realize that no one actually uses Linux that way.

Linux doesn't even have a fraction of the tools I use on an almost daily basis

>I make commercials and training videos for a living.
I'm sorry for you.
> Keep renting software instead of owning it, user.
I don't. The multibillion dollar media conglomerate I work for does. It doesn't give a shit about freeware, but it doens't have to. It has the negotiating power to get major software (Adobe, Office, etc.) dirt cheap.

It is if you're a creative professional.

Nice use of the "no true Scotsman" fallacy.

I actually hired this person once. She had a great portfolio and I saw a lot of potential, but she wasn't able to take direction or criticism nor collaborate, so she was let go after the 30-day evaluation period.

>actually hired this person once
was the hair not a good enough warning

I don't discriminate based on appearance. She had a lot of talent, interviewed really well and got the thumbs-up from my bosses. She seemed like a great fit but turned out she was a know-it-all who always thought she had better ideas than everyone else and felt that her aesthetic was superior to the approved style guide.

What I feel is really unfortunate is that she was booted after 30 days. In the past, I had 60 to 90 days to work with new hires before evaluation day happened. It changed to 30 days because companies are now mandated to offer employees health insurance in that time. 30 days wasn't enough time to correct her behavior, so she had to go.

You arent going to tame the wild and free empowered turbo dyke. Its good you let her go like a pidgeon in the wind.

She had the same character traits of a lot of creative professionals; however, I have a good track record of training them away from ego and immaturity. I actually find today's hires who are straight out of college much more mature than those I got five years ago.

bet she goes to slam poetry shows in the outskirts of the tenderloin

You won’t be able to attract a mate

Using linux, all you will be able to play IS vydia, not virtual casinos.

Problem is not with popular games but with small titles or indie. I also can't use programs I use for work, like photoshiop.

It's still a bit of a mess. When I get into any loonix distro I have to apply like 6 fucking fixes I have stored somewhere for things that either are never fixed or are just set up wrong by default on every distro.

At some point I considered doing the GPU passthrough meme, even got there but that was quite the waste of time, not fully understanding the process and having to rely on extra software just to switch keyboard and mouse between OSes without it being a pain in the butthole was not making it worth it. Other than that, I have never managed to make a proper version of Illustrator work either. Everyone talks about Photoshop like it's the only thing worth using.

The only things that really make Linux attractive for me are graphical. Font rendering settings and desktop environments. The rest isn't exactly worth touching that system. I can do a lot of shit from the terminal? Wow. Turns out I can do all of that on a GUI and I'm a slow person anyways. It boots one second faster than Windows 10? So what?

>(((feature)))

>not wanting to do it manually so you can see all the weird square things in the windows defrag program

>having a file system that needs defragmentation

That still isn't manually thought.
I want a defragmenter where I can place my files on the disk where I want

but i want all of them not some of them.

no hardware acceleration in browsers

yeah and 99% of them are pixel art indie trash

They know their audience

Attached: spedepasanen.jpg (600x683, 33K)

Good list, but I’ve only ever seen a kernel panic in the wild from a ram failure

Put useless shit to slower area of the hdd.
Like movies, music anime etc where speed or seek time doesn't really matter.
But since I switched to ssdy I don't really care anymore

Games that aren't on GNU/Linux aren't worth the trouble.
I only have what I want on my computer, so what? So I don't get shit in my water that turns the frogs gay

Then install gnu/linux, you stupid faggot

Gentoo, Gentoo, Gentoo, HURD/BSD (Gentoo)

*you'll have better performance in vidya and get curated the best of the best thanks to excluding trash Windows and MacOS exclusives as a bonus

Attached: tux-lit-2.png (220x261, 39K)

macos

I play music and produce music. I just connect my keyboard with midi cables. Are you fucking retarded?

Such as?

>no games

Attached: giphy.gif (480x287, 1.21M)

Only legitimate thing, i can think of is font rendering, its fucking abysmal.

DXVK, Proton, Wine !?!?
VM + OVMF pci passthrough?!?!
Also I don't give a shit about games.

hey retard, do you even know what music production is?

Seems like a reason to use Linux. Vidya is a waste of life.

The traps are usually the ones using Linux.
Source:**I'm the trap ~~Don't hit on me silly boys uwu~~**

>8ch syntax
HAHAHAHA I'm fucking retarded

You're not even allowed to use Master Slave nomenclature on Linux anymore
Lol what a joke

Name three

Boys have a penis.
Girls have a vagina.

Try and stop me.
