Is there a browser that doesn't eat ram out the asshole?

Is there a browser that doesn't eat ram out the asshole?

Feels like firefox and chrome run like ass because of poor design and bot net.

what's with the formula car?

Links

>firefox runs like ass
are you retarded?

w3m.

this

oh look! yet another faggot complaining about browsers

let me guess?now you're going to shill the browser that hijacks websites with their own ads and harvest all your data?

go fuck yourself OP

Firefox is fine, but I recommend Pale moon if you really and honestly want something leaner. There are alternatives that hog even less memory, but I doubt you're interested.

What addons are you using?

>run Chrome on my laptop
>30% CPU usage with only 1 YouTube video open
>50% CPU with a second tab open
>fans spin like crazy after 1 minute
but yeah, Firefox runs like ass, sure (that was sarcasm)

>eat ram

will you run out of ram? ram is meant to be used not so see 90% free on task manager.

Install gentoo

Chrome has a low end device mode that is supposed to use less ram, I don't know how effective it is though.

>ram is meant to be used not so see 90% free on task manager.
LOL get the fuck out here hahah.

Opera looks the best for long term in that infographic

>is there a browser that is not outdated garbage and doesn't cache shit in RAM to be fast
No

>furrymoon
No thanks

I use Opera, it's snappy as Chrome, uses less memory and doesn't crash/uses CPU like Firefox.

Your laptop is shit.

>20 tabs
yeah what tabs though. no shit 20 text only tabs are going to take less ram than 20 tabs with shitloads of images and media

>the browser that hijacks websites with their own ads and harvest all your data?
nani?!

Firecuck is butthurt about Brave because it's basically Firefox done right. He's talking about the opt in ads thing that you can enable to help the development by replacing some non intrusive ads with their own and block annoying shit at the same time.

holy shit, are you actually using some POS core 2 duo thinkpad?
upgrade to x220/t420/w520 at least

I'm sick and tired of browsers using my beloved RAM.

Any browser out there that doesn't run directly on RAM?

At least use 何

>muh ram
Like you are using it for anything else.

>browsing
>quickly want to open something else
>shit goes to swap/pagefile
>takes 20x the time to open
>crashes for no reason depending on the process
Yeah, unused RAM is wasted RAM.

sounds like a shitty system and machine to me

nice rebuttal, webdev.

lmao what do you have like 2 gigs of ram?

My firefox eats ram bc I place him in ram. So my SSD will not be raped so fast

I have no idea why Opera isn't more popular.

RAMlet detected

It's not even a browser problem. We actually want websites free of client side scripting and images.

>Is there a browser that doesn't eat ram out the asshole?
Safari.

>open website in 2019
>15mb of scripts loading
>autoplay video in hd
>fancy effects for scrolling and whatnot
>cdn sideloading every single element out of its ass
>ads refresh every five seconds
oh yes, definitely browser's fault.

Use wget and read the pages with nano (also learn how to read raw images).
qutebrowser.

This. I use qutebrowser, it's great
Since the key combos are so easy, sometimes I find it hard to use other browsers.

Pale Moon.

You're welcome.

mb of scripts loading
How optimistic. Unless you mean 15mb of text worth of JS, because the actual RAM usage is far, far worse.

>There are alternatives that hog even less memory, but I doubt you're interested.
I'm curious, unless you mean minimalist shit.

You must be using a shit tier Core2 era "Pentium Dual Core" CPU.

>Firefox still has memory leaks
lol.
The other browsers might be using more ram per tab, but at least they release it when the tabs were closed, lol.

Why do some devs think that their program is going to be the only one running in people's computers? They suffer from severe appitis.

>set homepage about:blank and run browser
>FF28 ~~100 mb
>FF52 ~~200 mb
>IE6 ~~ 12 mb (twelve mega-fucking-bytes)
yep, about:blank is so fat nowadays.

Does it have extensions?

What, don't you guys have RAM?

It's 2019 already, 64 gb is minimum, get more RAM so we don't have to optimize as much go- I mean guy.

>watching Videos inside your browser
>using youtube through YouTube.com

just stay at reddit

>cache bad!
>memory full of 00000000 good!

Attached: 1537572519573.jpg (550x543, 83K)

Internet explorer should be a horse drawn cart

What config settings do you use?
I have a shit ton of ram and would rather not kill my ssd.
I know the "cache2" entries probably rape IO and should probably be mounted under tmpfs, but anything else?

you're using it wrong, probably executing web apps and such

Pale moon still uses the old renderer, which honestly is dogshit compared to Quantum. It leaks memory like it's incontinent and it's slower than a quadruple amputee with Down's syndrome. Its only redeeming quality is the old XPCOM extension interface. Here's hoping they manage to extend WebExtensions to restore the old feature set.

RAM is meant to be used.

If you EVER complain about RAM usage that does not exceed 3GB for a 32 bit program or even have CCleaner INSTALLED, you need to brain yourself.

please don't tell'em, these threads are funny af, these guys are literal retards.

>he plays multiple YouTube videos at once
Just fucking why?

chinks

You know, I think is kind of a PC ricer

wasted ram is wasted ram

>also learn how to read raw images
lmao

Unused ram is wasted ram

>what is cache thrashing
the less memory an application needs to access, the less likely it is to run your system out of cache, and the faster it will run. High memory usage is a sign of inefficient design and poor optimization. Not to mention, it prevents the use of that application on older systems, even if that system can fulfill all other requirements for the application to run.

just ban javascript from the web

Kek

True true.

>tfw recently ascended and don't give a flying fuck

Attached: firefox_2019-01-06_19-56-05.png (726x575, 32K)

Cache isn't something that "runs out"
Cache thrashing means you are accessing incogruent memory, it's nothing to do with how much memory you're using

Sorta.
qutebrowser is honestly the best.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TO DO IT BURNS

download more rams

I've already downloaded 8 GB of ram. How can it want more? Outrageous.

Just be this guy

>Firefox memory usage is 500MB with 20 tabs
>wait a few hours
>Firefox memory usage is 5000MB with 20 tabs and cpu usage is a constant 100%

that's the javascript bitcoin miner, silly

I'm using NoScript though.
Checkmate, atheist.

I'm talking about the miner built into firefox

Attached: 1524999607070.png (797x732, 52K)

My brother.
I'll probably never replace my 2x4GB sticks unless I use them for a new build.

Is there a browser that eats as much ram as it can? Or how can I tell firefox to use more?
I have enough ram that just sits around doing nothing, i wouldnt mind ff taking that for more caching.

Attached: 2019-01-06_20-20-07.webm (682x332, 228K)

Mac Babby

Its using ram to perform faster you brainlets

SeaMonkey, Pale Moon, Falkon.
That's about it these days if you want modern features as well.

Attached: 1463361237440.jpg (2109x2109, 2.88M)

The real problem is web standards. Web browsers are only shit and bloated because web standards are even more shit and bloated.

>24GB

You've "ascended" to a platform (x58) from like 2008?

You know the OS will reclaim that memory if needed, right? The browser is just reserving an amount of free memory just in case it's necessary since it can't predict what the websites you're visiting are going to require, but if the OS asks for it back it'll give it back. There's no demerit to that and it's a lot faster than the browser constantly requesting memory from the OS on demand.

>swapping to disk is faster than only using what is required

Just buy more ram lmao

just run lynx. 6 MB for one tab op.

What distro do people use that their chromium eats so much RAM? It's the only browser that allows me have 80+ tabs open on the cheapest chromebook (2G ram) without some sort of plugin.

Anything running ublock and umatrix.

>ff in ram
browser.cache.disk.enable;false
browser.cache.memory.enable;true

>you can also create this integer and set how much ram u want to give
browser.cache.memory.capacity

>This is how often ff save session - originally I think its 15 sec - so not very good for SSD
browser.sessionstore.interval;2400000

my fav is when they change scrolling behaviour

goddamnit

thanks

cunt

>it's nothing to do with how much memory you're using
of course it is, you retarded cunt

Here's what you need:
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/rudolf-fernandes/?src=search

>Feels like firefox and chrome
those are the only browser left though, pick your poison

thats why you watch youtube in your native media player and not in the browser, brainlet, use youtube-dl.
>qutebrowser
the config and the browser is great, but its based on chromium so just as big of a ram eater as chrome, firefox is better.

Surf is very lightweight. I'm using it right now because everything else runs unbearably slowly on this old 32-bit DELL laptop.

Webengine or webkit. It usually uses 100mb/page, but there are ways to reduce that (not that I have had any reason to try that). I was a ff user for a long time and switched to qb last October, I'm happy of this choice. Most importantly the developer and many users are often on irc and are very friendly. This was my own experience, of course I'm not saying you have to use it or anything of the sort bla bla bla
