Probably because he's programming far longer than constrexpr in C++ exists and ultimately can improve overall efficiency.
Sure, makes a hell lot difficult to debug code with shit ton of preprocessor commands, but I guess he's writing code for his YT videos like he's writing his personal project (though since he's a embedded developer possibly also his professional one).

He also only writes simple macros, like x macros or to portably force inlining. He never goes crazy with them.

More or less, however he sometimes writes them with the assumption that some variable of a given name and type exists (global or even local), which is a bit of a shitty way to code (acceptable for a personal project, but still).
