I'm runnin win 10, RTX 2070. When I play a game (R6 Siege for instance) and open youtube on my second monitor, the video becomes choppy and sometimes the picture freezes (audio keeps going normally) This didn't use to be the case on my old Win 7 machine. Any idea how to fix it?

The windows 10 key only works for 10, not for older versions.

Ideally you want as many dimm slots populated as possible with the fastest ram, it's not the amount of GB it's the speed of the ram stick and the amount of them present in the system.

My router supports both 2.4 and 5ghz and allows setting a different SSID for both modes, but can I just set it to the same and the devices I connect will automatically pick the best mode? Or will that just lead to 2 duplicate networks being seen?

You can have the same SSID, and devices will pick the best one. But not all devices can use 5ghz though.

Hardware accelerated video decoding changed in windows 10.

Find out if your system is decoding VP8/9/H.264/5 with software or hardware acceleration.

Newer GPUs and intel CPUs have hardware accelerated decode for various codecs.

You can try forcing YouTube to use H.264, or try to completely disable hardware accelerated video decode.

Fix your native hardware acceleration or set your browser and Youtube to decode with the component your games are not bogging down.

Use h264ify to disable VP8/9

If that fails disable hardware-accelerated video decode.

If that fails try a different browser(Chrome/Firefox/Edge). Accelerated video decoding is one of the only things Edge is actually good at.

What are you worried about, a hacker grabbing your IP address from the swarm and getting into your machine through the opened port? That is vanishingly unlikely, and they still have your IP address to portscan you or try to get in through something else, but honestly in this day and age you hardly hear about anyone getting hit this way unless they're running ridiculously old software or something. Those kind of remote access vulnerabilities are rare and quickly patched most of the time.

Is it possible to directly copy an OS over to a new drive to work as the main without the need for reinstalling or whatever? I bought a cheap HDD to finish this build off when my funds were low, but now they've improved I want to replace it with an SSD and put a larger HDD in the space occupied by the current main drive HDD.

Yes, this can be done. The exact procedure varies with the details: is the new drive larger or smaller than the old one? Are you splitting the contents of one disk to multiple ones? Getting an NVMe SSD? Are you on windows which sometimes wants reactivation shenanigans?

If you have enough space in a third HDD or something you can just clone the drive and clone it back with the same software.
