Why does nobody innovate in software anymore? You see this in open source and proprietary alike. Every programmer does the bare fucking minimum these days.

web and mobile fucked a whole generation of developers. we lost a whole generation to turning sql queries into html and javascript or trying to con people into buying coin tokens in mobile crack simulators

Please explain in detail what you mean.

Name 1 software invention since 2017

>2017
name 1 from 1997 to january 1999

Taking pride in your work is a corporate meme invented to gaslight underpaid laborers into thinking of opportunity to produce value as a commodity in and of itself, independently of being paid for it, and by extent to think of continued employment as desirable regardless of their salary. It's pretty much just a Pavlovian bait-and-switch: once the workers are trained to associate the work they do with the money they get, the employers cut out the money, and the workers are still motivated to do the work because it still "feels like" money. If you fall for this, you are a brainlet

>taking pride in your work means you can't also dispute higher wages
And this is why the American left has been a solid joke for several decades and for many more decades to come.

If you had pride in your work, you would do a high quality job and demand high pay, as well as prevent low wage scabs from coming in and taking your job with shitty quality labor.

>If you had pride in your work, you would do a high quality job and demand high pay,
No, that's taking pride in your calling, which is based.
Taking pride in your work is just pathetic.

Because it's fucking difficult.
>Most ideas have been done already.
>The general complexity of software has massively increased over time.
>We're at a point where we are trying to mimic the human brain, which we don't even understand that well to begin with.
>We don't yet know how to interface with computers beyond touch and voice.
>We still don't know where personal computing will go beyond phones and watches.
>We're entrenched into using the same programming languages as we have for decades whether they are suited for the task or not.
>We're not that smart.
>We're fucking lazy.
>We gotta pay the bills.

Fuck off with your utopia shit, the world is far more complicated than that.

Sounds like you're just arguing semantics. The trend of low quality programming or anything else is why outsourcing has been so effective. When your local programmers give the same quality and shits as people overseas will do for 1/100th of the pay, the end users will never notice the difference. People don't do quality anymore. They're internalized that their labor is worthless so they should give the lowest quality results and be satisfied with the low pay their corporate masters give.

This doesn't even consider open source, which has some of the shittiest trends in programming unless the project is run by a determined autist who isn't afraid to make enemies and filter out the shitters who can't meet quality checks.

China will innovate in software.

>The country where 70% of millennials are homeowners

North America (excluding Mexico), Western Europe, Australia and Japan are in economic decline. Meanwhile, China is where capitalism (particularly the flow of capital for the purpose of investment, trade or business production) is gradually improving the lives of the average Chinese. On the flip side, the departing of capitalists from the West in search of cheaper, disciplined labour pools is making the average Westerner's life worse each year due the loss of jobs.

Your populace cannot innovate under conditions of economic deprivation, lack of education and an unstable political situation. China has the latter two taken care of, and the first is improving each year.

The minute capitalism convinces China to allow LGBTs into their country is the minute I'm going over there desu. It's actually a great idea for immigration because gays or transsexuals don't reproduce, so they make the perfect immigrants who won't bring over their family drama or make babies but still providing quality labor.
>ywn be the homosexual concubine of a genetically modified chinese superchad who has 30 wives

>t. commie

I would have many babies with one on the left.

yeah the guy on the left is pretty cute hahahahha lol

If they can master genetic modification enough to modify a chinaman into a turbochad they can modify you into a turbo twink

yep, sexy smile
would marry/10

Bitch on the left looks like she's there to snatch up a man

wtf I love communism with chinese characteristics now

Because tools and languages haven't really improved, everything is still based on paradigms invented in the 60s and 70s. Throwing more computing power and weird input methods (touchscreen, gyroscopes, VR, etc) doesn't fix this. Hardware has only gotten more complicated and harder to program efficiently such as amd64 architecture with its 700+ opcodes.

>lack of a profit motive
Free as in freedom, not free as in price

In all seriousness China will probably strategically allow homosexual civil unions and in general give LGBTs basic rights the minute the west starts crashing in order to allow the country to pick and choose the high value labor coming in to flee the situation.

Taking another countries high value males and women and genetically modifying them into hyper-fertile, submissive, perfect citizens who only give birth to genetic Chinese is basically the best one sided deal in history.
