is it pointless to sort media to a certain extent? i spend way too much time than it's worth trying to sort photos, videos, docs etc, and then a few months later i have to do it again. I'm forgetful too so i'll download the same image 20x and have to use a pic duplicate finder to delete all the extras. Then on the micro level, sorting between pictures and videos is getting more difficult when it comes to webms, gifs, etc. Should i just focus on spending more time naming images when i save them so i can just search a file at any time and dump everything into a couple folders?

shortcuts. shortcuts everywhere. i make folders and then if i think there's crossover for another folder i'll make a shortcut for it and drop it in there too. works great for porn that might cross over 2 folders / genres

The problem with categorizing your shit is remembering what category all your content is. It could get to a point where it would be easier to search for what you want in a large uncategorized folder, than browsing through severeal folders trying to find that one thing.

I have 3 folders: music, pictures, documents. Music is divided into Japanese and English, and those folders have more folders for albums, specific genres, then I leave the singles I’ve downloaded alone. Pictures are divided into screenshots, manga stuff, and some other stuff that I’m too lazy to check. Documents have school work, software, music sheets, videos, you know- Fucking documents.

i have similar except it's (loosely) pictures, videos, documents, music. music is easily my best sorted folder because it's just sorted by artist, and for singles i just have a big singles folder as well. i dont think i could do genre, that would get way too confusing for me.

Sort your shit and then download to a temporary directory. Periodically clean out tmp (transferring data files to your perm dirs) and resort...
