Why can't I just run my own DNS server?

>tfw wont resolve archive.is
>cloudflare
Yeah, fuck that.

Well if you got a shit load of devices all using internet (20+) then it helps. Cause instead of all them going out to your isp to resolve ip to host names and sucking up bandwidth they instead use your own server to do it which is hell of lot faster. Takes the load off your isp to boot.

At the rate we're going with more and more shit using the net this will be a reality sooner than a lot think.

you can, but depending on the ISP they may not allow it.

Let's see for example;

4 Smartphones (You, wife + 2 kids)
Xbox + PS4 (2)
Smart TV (4)
Office computer (1)
IP Cams (4)
Smart Fridge (1)
Echo dot/Alexia device (1)
Smart Thermostat (1)
Server (1)

That's 17 devices right there all connected to the Net

>but depending on the ISP they may not allow it
you'd have to be the ultimate turbocuck to pay for a service where shit like that is enforced
that's like having a data cap or receiving "pls dun torrent" letters from your isp

My ISP doesn't care. Never gotten any kind of "Torrent letter" from them at all. I don't know what kind of traffic would get a letter sent to me but suffice to say If I ain't gotten one yet they don't give a fuck.

>All those devices
What about your wife's boyfriends phone and the itx gaymer PC in your cuckshed?

>4 ip cams and a "smart" fridge needing DNS resolution
you dun goofed
