ITT anons first mobile device

Has the mobile experience gotten less comfy over the years? I wish I could get a modern phone with a soft front lit gray-scale display.

i miss physical keyboards

Windows Phone 6.5 was too laggy, 6 was fine

kinda reminds me of the qwerty version of the old ti89

this thread is now a ti89 vs hp50g thread

They got it right later

Yes and as a kid I always wanted a flip phone so god damn much

I wish they make physical qwerty again.

>extremely minimal both in software and hardware
>extremely hackable operating system
>older devices have boomer-cool architecture (68k)
>most applications are developed in C or assembler
>did nearly everything a WinCE device could do other than multitasking
Palm OS is way more "Jow Forums" than Windows CE to me, but I really like them both for their own strengths. CE was a much more advanced operating system but also felt more sluggish and unresponsive in general despite running on devices considerably faster on paper than their Palm/Sony/Handspring contemporaries.

I also feel like Palm OS has more in the way of on-device IDEs, compilers and interpreters too than CE does, the only really good language implementation on CE I've ever enjoyed using is Pocket Scheme, which I'm starting to think still isn't as good as LispMe even if it looks nicer.

For me it was the h2215

The most cyberpunk way to read ebooks.

Fuckin visors man. Used to play an autistic amount of drugwars on mine

fuck off zoomer

i got this hand-me-down back in early 2000

the M100 series is ugly as fuck but in a rugged looking way that grows on you

unironically want to pick up an M125 for random bullshit, fastest AAA powered palm and basically a 33 MHz 68000 machine with a shitload of RAM and even more non-volatile storage that fits in your pocket

Wouls you rather have a black and white TV too?

Isnt it past your bedtime kiddo?

found the real zoomer, i used that shit in the '90s as described

No just something nice to use at night that doesnt strain my eyes. Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic. Those were simpler times.

the legend

Just curious, how many Dad did you have user?

wtf is that

Siemens S35i

Attached: Siemens-S35i-1.jpg (386x600, 30K)

Fancy graphing calculator. Same software as a ti89.

False equivalence unless you're a mindless drone who only uses their phone for nothing but media consumption. A good high-resolution grayscale/e-ink device would be pretty kickass on power consumption and just fine for more information/communication-oriented users.

I've been contemplating getting an upgrade from the samsung evergreen to a nokia N95 but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it

Attached: java game collection.png (1480x754, 1.01M)

Those where super expensive because of built in irda modem.

I still think this phone was better than razr

Attached: $_10.jpg (738x738, 79K)

The comfiest phone i've ever had

Attached: 3410.jpg (354x525, 36K)

NEC P3. It was possible to switch it to scanner mode and listen in on (one side of) any other mobile conversations nearby.

Attached: p3.jpg (1280x850, 103K)

I had cloned benefon forte nmt450, was so jelly that you burgers had phones like oki900 that could be easily cloned and worked as scanner, all in compact portable package. Never heard of nec p3 before.

Attached: item_XL_473951_1900401.jpg (320x579, 35K)

Not quite a burger. I lived in the UK at the time, which is basically the USA of yurop.

>you'll never have a group of peers crowding around your shoulders watching you tear it up in Asphalt 7, building efficiently in Minecraft, etc. and second guessing wanting an iPhone in elementary school ever again

Fucking drugwars. Thanks for triggering my nostalgia, user!

The one and only

I assume this counts as a "mobile device".
It has a handle.

still use one of these for DS emulation, even with the fucking shitty bloat that I can't get rid of because I can't root it it was still worth it

Nice! Kids lost their shit when I whipped out Pokémon Emerald on it in 5th grade desu.
I personally think the joypads are underrated as hell. The precision to size ratio is insane. Hands down comfiest Minecraft experience desuka

My guy! I was the most popular kid in my form for a week after I got this phone

I remember playing Pokemon Ruby on this fucker in high school. Then I upgraded to touch smartphones and enjoyable games on my phone are a thing of the past.

I *still* have my Palm. I have to fire it up for that extra nostalgia, for the days when stuff just worked.

the one on the right was an absolute beast

I still have a working tungsten E2

Is there anything cool I can do with it?

Attached: images (34).jpg (479x640, 37K)

I woulda hated you as I was stuck with my m100

As a WinMo user back in the day, Palm was absolutely better.

I would still be using it too if the networks still supported it and it was unlocked. Hands down the best phone I’ve ever owned.

PSN Power bitch (whatever the hell that meant)

My mom had one of those at some point. Writing anything on that keyboard was a fucking nightmare. The touch/sliding on the dpad was pretty cool though.

desu ka is for a question desu

It was a hand-me-down, but i still have it and it still works

Attached: 81ylgpK76+L._SY355_.png.jpg (355x355, 15K)

Same. Everybody had one of these where I lived as their first mobile phone.

I had one too.
The ringtone editor was really I had for entertainment when I was waiting for mum in the car.

HotSync was great.
So much busywork, fuck once iPhones and shit came along helldesk budgets starting bottoming out.

I never had a phone.

This phone was amazing

Attached: cx75.jpg (474x355, 19K)

the Ti was the iPhone of calculators. It got you laid when you were able to show off blockdude and drugdealer to the chicas sitting left and right of your desk.
HP has a 2d/3d waifu button. It is /g approved.

>lower ALPHA vs. Higher alpha

Only thing Palm OS lacked was multitasking. It was still much more usable than wince.

Had Palm III then made a mistake of downgrading to iPaq 3760.

who /symbian/ here?
>thousands of themes
>listening to 2004 jrock with a 2.5 -> 3.5 adaptor
>javashit AND symbian games
>picrodrive and the nes emulator were especially good, 100%ed sonic 3 on my E71
>wifi on the later models so you could still watch old youtube and porn in the bathroom without data
tfw watching retsupre (lmao still cant spell it) under the sheets.
tfw discovering jav and other awful porn on my phone
tfw converting advent children to fucking 3gp and watching it on a 2 inch screen.

Got this guy when my dad stopped using it and switched to a Blackberry Curve.

I "found" one of those in the phone recycling bin when I worked at radio shack back in 2010. I think I still have it somewhere in a junk drawer or something

>elementary school
>2012
get the fuck out

This was my first, got stolen.

This was my last, smashed it in the town square.

iphone came out in '07, I was also in elementary school then, I'm 22

My parents hand me down

Attached: flare.jpg (400x300, 21K)
