Write open source software

Cause it's either shit or no one knows about

>write proprietary software
>everyone uses it but they still refuse to pay you

Make it better. Publish an AppImage and Docker container.

>make a thread
>nobody replies to it

>decide to put botnet and mine data to earn shekels
>everyone is ok with that
microsoft (tm)

> be fooled into open source bullshit by evangelists
> surprised to find yourself ass raped
wew lad

I mean, if no one wants to use something free, no one will pay for it either.

> write software that browser-mines crypto on everyone for freely using the software
> nobody fucking cares
> profit

possibly, or they didnt need it, which could the issue you're in denial over

>write some 10 line js "library"
>thousands use it

>Write open source software
>Spend years of hard effort working out all the tricky bits
>Some Chad comes in telling me to make a couple of trivial changes to the code I don't believe in as they cause security issues
>Chad forks my software, removes all trademarks and takes my name off the contributions dialog
>Tfw exodus of users who now see Chad as their God
>Chad gets hundreds per year in donations and I get nothing

Fuck you guys and fuck the GPL. This never would have happened if I made my software proprietary freeware :(

Give proof

>t. fell for the cuck license

>open a git for your project
>0 pull requests

That's because git is just a version control tool, if you want people to find it you probably want to host it on a site like GitHub or GitLab.

>open a git
What do you mean exactly, Rajesh?

If literally nobody is using it, meaning you aren't even using it yourself, then it's not worth it. Write something you want to use first, and then it won't really matter if nobody else is using it.

Wrong License

opn git
betch lasagna

>when your shit is so shitty that people don't want it even for free

all these complaints yet nobody posted a link yet. ebin thread.

Easy to dox.

nah, people pay when they trust the company behind a product. open source? some dweeb somewhere in a cellar that won't give you any support and only cares about adding features he thinks are fun to add. pro software? a company with a support staff that's interested in selling you upgrade hence having a motive to treat you well and improve the product

>undreds per year in donations
wow the open source business model. and people wonder why no company is making any software for linux

pussy

I'm not one of the complainers, but I come to these threads because I empathize with them a little. The open source stuff I like to work on is usually based around niche/obscure topics, so it's tougher to find a place to share it and get feedback.
I'll post my open source project "nobody" (except me) uses, maybe it will encourage others to post something too:
gitlab.com/kibukj/s1kd-tools

>implying chad cares about your license

>write open source software
>millions of users, including two FAANG companies
>never seen a single penny from all my hard work
>continue to live in poverty off disability gibs

Things that never happened.

I admire the work put into it

obviously, but can you imagine someone being in that situation? there's gotta be at least one person out there

proof?

Because someone wrote a program that could do that but just better and faster

you're supposed to build a portfolio with software such as that and then get hired

>write open source software
>people get mad at you because you don't implement their retarded feature requests

>find open source software
>appreciate it

You foolie
You write open source software for yourself and maybe, other people
