Dead-on-arrival meme.

It's not 1980 anymore, gramps. We've come a long way since Mach.

I look forward to helping to de-google it.

If you can remove the inevitable google spyware that it will come with it will probably end up better than linux.

Lel,
Chrome OS based on gentoo.
Google decides to do the opposite of what Jow Forums says!

Actually the capabilities will ensure that the crapware only screws with what it has permissions to. In other words, your video game can't access your mail client's folder or page in memory. Neither do apps run with your permissions. They run on your behalf.

The fact that it's a capabilities-based microkernel means that its over the head of the majority of people here.

Do you really expect a jabbaskriplet to understand?

but user I thought Jow Forums hated jabbaskript?

Red pill me on microkernel

Android is already a VM. Android App support is essentially a native Android implementation

Only because they hate themselves for not understanding types

>Red pill me on microkernel
Read "Can we make operating systems reliable and secure?" by Andrew S. Tanenbaum. It's 10+ years old now, but still very much relevant.

Microkernels have always failed in practice.
They only saw limited success in Intel's management engine, where it's literally used to spy on you.

Microkernels failed for the same reason any new monolithic kernel OS would fail. There's too much vendor lock-in into the big 3 of Windows, MacOS, and Loonix.

The idea that microkernels themselves are the problem is nonsense. QNX saw great success by sidestepping the mainstream competition and going for the embedded niche.
With Google backing this Fuchsia project, there is enough money and industry influence involved here that a legit microkernel OS might have a shot at breaking into the general consumer market.

So I guess L4 isn't running 'murica's fighter jets?

Enough with the Jewgle shit please
