Thinking of getting a mechanical watch

Trouble is, I'm a literal autist.
Will frequent hand flapping damage the mechanism or lose the correct time?
Serious question.

if you get an automatic watch it will actually wind up the mechanism.

No watches have had Incabloc style shock protection since the 1930's

...

I know even with golf swings automatic movements can be damaged, but those involve a swift crack, I don't know if flapping would do anything. I wouldn't worry too much but then again my only mechanical watch is >$100. Try and

Get a grey market Seiko 5 on ebay then when you inevitably lose or break it you’re only out $70.

>70$
Jesus, just get a Vostok if you want good value.

>Vostok
Good god those are ugly. I would put one on an open casket as a prank.

would a watch from 1800s be better than what we now have in stores?

better in what way?
a shitty $20 quartz watch is more accurate than most mechanical watches and with a far larger power reserve, but it lacks the status and craftsmanship of a mechanical one, even more a completely hand-built one

cope
dainty watches are for women

this

Not my german luftwaffe watch from the 1940s.

>I would put one on an open casket as a prank.

It would quickly make it a close casket affair and ruin your prank.

mechanicals are worse than a same priced quartz or different earth mineral watch for that matter. I'm also that autistic so I won't get a mechanical unless it is a Rolex

My dream watch is the grey side of the moon from Omega
am I a cuck? I simply love the aesthetic of it.

Why even go grey market. Base seiko 5s start at 55 dollars with a nylon strap.

Is the flappy an anxiety tick? Maybe listening to a mechanical movement could call you down. I'm borderline autism and I love loud watches. They've pulled me from panic attacks a handful of times.

seeth more poorfag

Depends on the mechanism. If it's some aliexpress chinkshit then it will break on its own. A high quality chinese rep of a swiss movement will be ok and same with japanese movement.

I have a seagull ocean star with an ETA2824 clone and have dropped it onto concrete / slammed it into metal door jambs and go to the archery range with it and it still works. All mech's will lose time when you take them off and leave them on a table.
