Garbage bitrate. 4K UHD 24p is 40-50 Mb/s average with 100 Mb/s peaks on disc. 60p should be 2.5x that bitrate, and 8K is 4x that. Maybe VVC will reduce the bitrate requirements of HEVC in half (doubtful), but that's 200-250 Mb/s for 60p 8K with 500 Mb/s peaks, 80-100 Mb/s for 24p 8K with 200 Mb/s peaks.

4k is a 2X2 1080p display or a 3x3 720p display
it fits pixel perfect, sure it may not have the resolution, but you dont have the weird artifacts that smaller displays had when displaying out of resolution images.
and as long as the display takes a 480 video and displays it at 4k instead of trying to run the monitor as if its 480, then the amount of pixels that blur is less and less so the video, while still being low resolution looks notably better.
the higher the resolution gets less scaling artifacts matter, 8x will be 2x2 4k monitors, 4x4 1080p and 9x9 720p and then all the off resolutions that are sub 720p will just scale better due to less pixel blurring.
and the fun part is, any video regardless of ratio, so long as it conforms to a 1280/1920/3840 width will also scale perfectly. the only real issue is it looks like they are introducing 2:1 with 10k so this may muddy the waters in the future with resolution scaling.
the only real advantage for non screen lickers.
