Greetings Jow Forums

Greetings Jow Forums.
I have problem deciding which linux distribution I'm going to use in the future.
Help me to pick just one distro which is going to run on all of my machines, and finally move on with my life.

Install gentoo

(or void linux)

If not Gentoo (unironically) run the universal distro (Debian)

just go with fedora

>the universal distro
the sjw distro*

Linux Mint Xfce or Cinnamon.

>anyone with left-leaning politics is an sjw

It depends

For a server or desktop?

fedora's nice for desktop
centos for if you want a super locked down server
suse and mint are memes

>For a server or desktop?
opensuse for both

Ubuntu

Desktop

Ubuntu LTS

Mint Cinnamon is fine

Only gentoo and nix has anything special to offer as a "distro"
The rest is the same school project tier autoinstalling scripts with shitty binary package manager

xubuntu

This is a bad idea. I've recently reinstalled the thing on my system because of the new version but it's been pretty unstable for me. It's not much of a surprise to me since 29 was released only a few weeks ago. It's okay if you know what you're doing but the instability right now isn't something I would recommend for newcomers.

Debian

check'd

I would recommend arch linux
Pacman is just so much nicer than apt-gay
Its rolling release so it has all of the newest releases
You might think that rolling release means it breaks often, but that is not the case.
You can just use any DM or WM ( i would recommend dwm or i3)

>arch linux
debian unstable*
apt just works™
rolling so it has up to date software but still more stable than arch
sweet .deb compatability, no need to fuck with AUR cancer

what's the top left one?

CentOS

If you want to install it on a server, use CentOS (or Debian).
If you're an advanced programmer and you need bleeding edge compilers, use Fedora.
For a general purpose computer, use Ubuntu derivative of your choice (including Mint).
What's OpenSuse good at again?

What DE do you like?
Fedora for Gnome
OpenSusse for KDE
Mint for Cinnamon or XFCE
CentOS for nothing until CentOS 8 is released.

i have fedora 29 (MATE) installed for more than a month now. what instabilities have you encountered?

Gnome

wiki.debian.org/AntiHarassment

Ubuntu
There's no other sensible choice.

Use case?

Who care faggot it werks

>What's OpenSuse good at again?
Being weird.

True.

Not true.

kek

out of the ones in your picture, run fedora on laptops and desktops, and run centos on servers and workstations

What is the deal with nvidia's 390 driver giving me black screens in mint 19.1?

Nobody knows what your machines are.

Manjaro XFCE if you like rolling releases
Xubuntu if you like point releases

Just works out of the box so you can move on with your life

nvidia sucks give up and go amd

mint if you want a just works distro

Manjaro it is stable rolling release literally no other distro comes close for desktop

>Ubuntu LTS
underrated comment and /thread

>noVideo GPU
You're not supposed to use noVideo on Linux. There's AMD and there's Intel, both of which maintain open source drivers which are included in the kernel by default and literally just work.

Except Mint Xfce is much better than Xubuntu. It's basically Xubuntu + quality of life improvements out of the box.

No real reason to bother with anything but mint. babby's first linuxbox.

Is amd better for linux?

if you prefer open source and a functional gpu

Im kinda thinking about opensuse, from what I gather on their wiki and on the internet they want to make it easy to use.

Out of these options, Fedora is the best choice.

Unironically this

Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon

I like Mint, it's like ubuntu but doesn't look like dogshit and it's pretty retard proof which is good for me.

Second for fedora/centos. If you ever have to work in a major scientific, telecom, or government computing enterprise, they'll be using rhel, and you'll understand why.

KDE Neon is great
MX Linux is also really good if you’re autistic about systemd
