Yes and no. Proton/Wine+DXVK is really neat and a lot of games run perfectly through it, but there are still some games that are a little rough around the edges, or won't run at all due to shit like anticheats/drm/etc. Plus, you will be taking a performance hit, but even that's come a long way. Used to be about a ~30% hit, and in semi-recent benchmarks it looks like they've narrowed that by a lot.

>and in semi-recent benchmarks it looks like they've narrowed that by a lot.
That's... very, very interesting.
Looks like "the year of the Linux" might not be a meme anymore.

How easy it is to pirate games for linux? Are all the usual downloads usable on linux? As there is no point for me unless I can do that, as I've never paid for a single game.

>is linux viable for gayming now?
Mostly.
You're likely to run 70% of your Steam library with Proton or Lutris + DXVK. Like the other user mentioned, it's mostly drm and anticheats preventing you from running other shit, however people are slowly finding ways around it.

Pirate normal Windows game, run it through Lutris. If you are using Steam just click the play button. Shit isn't as complicated as it use to be.

>just like or better
and then your friend lies

Interesting, is the best way to run other windows programs through wine?
I'd like to get stuff like my pirated versions of mathematica and matlab working on it if I can't find a native version for linux.

Then I can make a full switch.

You're a real dumb nigger, but yes, you can run games on linux.
PIracy is the same for both systems you fucking moron.
Lutris exists.

Matlab definitely has a native version on Linux. Looks like Mathematica does too

Oh yeah, they do, I use the linux versions in uni, but I don't know if I can find a pirated native version.
The usual downloads for mathematica seem to come with linux maybe, latest matlab I'm not so sure, but maybe it works in both.

>tfw no gayming bf

Are you a boy or a girl?

see

some source games (HL2, L4D/L4D2, TF2) actually run better natively in linux.

No it is not. If you plan to game instead of making your game run then you better use windows.

No it’s not. Stay far away from GNU/Linux you underage winfag it’s full of viruses and will burn your house down.

I need apps like EVGA Precision, Corsair iCue, and Gigabyte Smart Fan to tune my PC hardware. How does Linux mitigate that?

For MATLAB there is a torrent that comes with the crack. For Mathematica, there is a keygen made in javascript, you use offline activation once and it's activated forever.

boy

Most typical torrented games work fine. Some don't start at all. It's hit or miss. You won't know until you try it

what about Photoshop or Lightroom? I'd switch to Linux in a heartbeat if that shit were supported

t. photofag

I haven't touched Photoshit in years, but a few artfags on this board have shown it's possible to get it running through Wine. finicky as shit though.
Same story for Lightroom and the other Adobe stuff.
