Yeah, computing is very important for that kind of stuff. I personally know a lot of CS people that work at the local cancer research centre. Protip: never graduate with a pure CS degree. They are largely garbage. Instead minor (or double major) in an application field.

I've known someone on the science side and the IT side and both jobs are not great. You're too much of a cog as one of the shitload of cancer research scientists out there and since these orgs are very money conscious their IT isn't well paid or respected
